20220721_122411.jpg Old fuzzy picture, young me on a toy we had. Don't ask the year. Dad had it built, it was 24x60, and like everyone has said, it wasn't big enough. Mom let me use half or so, back in the modifieds days.
20220529_212520.jpg Here's the small barn on my mom's property that I also got to use. It was heatable in the winter. 16x18, and barely enough room to get the modified in. But I was young and limber in those days. So I managed.

In between there was a 1 car garage 12x24, but with a set of stairs down into the lower level of the house, so only 12x20 usable. I managed.

Then a 22x24 detached garage, in Michigan, uninsulated, and as we were not that far from Hell (Michigan of course), yes it froze over every winter.

First house here in Upstate New York, had a 20x20 attached garage. Okay but when it was time to have a single story house built for us, my only request to SWMBO, was a little bit bigger garage. This one is 23x30 with an 8x8 chunk cut out for a laundry room. It's got a slop sink, so I'm good with it.
DSCN1091.JPG I don't have a good overall picture but this shows the part I use for my projects.
DSCN1124.JPG I have this 12x20 shed for overflow, and now I need another for the overflow overflow!

My place……sure do love it. It used to be a Preston Motor Freight repair shop. You can still see where we concreted over the oil change pit. It has heat, A/C , indoor toilet and even hot water …

I like the service station shot, when the "bridges Of Madison County" movie was all the rage we attended the bridge festival (Winterset Ia.) for several years. Just off the square the period perfect service station featured in the movie stood proud, now sadly gone, the town square still reflects a feeling of times past, still visit in the fall as the colors never disappoint.

Too bad there's a lotta red "Xs" but some very cool garages here too. This one isn't fancy but it's mine. I have more room than normal this winter as I'm down to one daily driver, sold a scooter and my son moved his O/T El Camino to his place. Elbow room is good. Maybe I'll get some work done now. ;)

Jeez guys, thank you @knucklenutz and @Moriarity for sending me into a deep state of depression. I am now going out to my two-car garage that I share with the wife's pickup and fix a fuel leak.:):)

This is your lucky day! I just happen to have dry, inside storage space available. I'll even come over to your place and help you load all the stuff you'll probably not need for a while. ;)

Don't let it eat you up! You've got a cool rod and it's under a roof. Lotta guys out there with less. Ever change a flywheel in a barracks parking lot on hard packed snow? Been there. It's all relative. Enjoy!

My garage... was very lucky to get it a few years back and have been fixing it up since. Built in the early 40s to fix radiators for cars off the pa turnpike up on top of the mountain.

I've built all my cars outside in the snow for 2 decades because my 2 car garage at my house is jammed packed with my tools and parts. Etc... so it is very nice to be able to fire the coal furnace and work in dry warmth.

Though I still do all my welding and fabricating at my house garage as new to me garage still has the 40s fuse box... 20220710_105050.jpg 20220218_125816.jpg 20211111_225328.jpg 20221030_173917.jpg 20220218_120758.jpg 20221107_191922.jpg 20221106_101244.jpg 20221106_101219.jpg 20221021_151417.jpg

Thanks :) That gas station was build in 1947 and they gave up in the mid 70s.
It took me over 3 years to bring everything back to its original glory.

Here is a pic what it used to look like in 1949

Thanks, Fish Fry, little did I realize your posting was in fact the Winterset Ia. service station it was always an excellent back drop for photo's. I see your now far removed from central Iowa, keep those past memories close at heart

Temps in the 50's today in Northern Ohio so I cleaned up the shop. Rare moment when two of my HAMB friendly cars are in this one at the same time. IMG_7693.jpg
