Like the ***le says has anyone done a 32 Ford with a stock wishbone dropped axle and cross steer? If so what did you use for steering arms, steering gear etc. Please post pictures also. Running a flathead also.

I've got that set-up on my 32-5 window. OG ch***is with Model A front member, 32 bones with 4 1/2" dropped heavy axle and round back spindles with dropped arms. Steering box is HQ Holden (Vega to you guys) and it's RHD with a 401 Nailhead.
Sorry, can't post pics as it's at my sons getting the wiring done.

Not good pics, Original 32 frame , & steering box with stock Non split .
40 style brakes ,4 inch drop , with friction shocks .
From box to top bolt on steering arm,
Cross steer from side to side over bones ,I used P&J bolt on extra long arms heat & bent both the same to clear for cross steer , drove around 12,000 miles ish or so 25822041-3A72-40B4-A6F6-E8569333B507.png 2BB0EFBF-BA37-4478-9B11-11F09E386174.png 3E35C3F8-F6E0-4761-92F0-4D8B50E238A4.png FA86ABA6-93F6-4374-8235-0B97987E985C.png

Thanks for the pics, but that is a side steer setup. Cross steer goes from the steering box on the left frame rail to the right spindle.

    ^^^ sorry misunderstood,
    What Box ?
    Vega or mustang ?
You will probably end up with an extra pitman arm & set bolt ons , I would start with the forged medium straight & extra long straight , heat & bending will be required for both,
When mocking up it's gonna be very important to have weight on the front end motor combo in place,
    Ride height.

I’m running a 32 frame with a dropped 32 heavy axle, reversed eye spring, split 32 wishbones and 42-48 spindles. The clearance will be the same whether the wishbone is split or not. With the tie rod above the wishbone, I could jump on the frame and it would touch the frame, so I decided to put it under the wishbone. I heated the steering arms but to get it that low the steering arms would be too close the axle. So I cut the steering arms off and used a pair of the Ch***is Engineering bolt on arms. I had to heat them and still bend them down slightly. I am running cross steer with a Vega box, the steering drag link barely touches the bottom of the wishbone so I’ll have to clearance the wishbone. Everything is still above the scrub line. Looking back it may have been better to put the wishbones on upside down then cut and reweld them at the proper caster, which would have allowed more clearance to run the tie Rod under.

hi 31apickup, hope you dont mind me asking the following.
I'm setting up the same setup (split bones and cross steer) but are concerned that if you were to jack the front of the car up and put stands under the ch***is and let the front suspension fully drop, does you steering draglink hit the wishbone? And is this a major concern with normal driving, and just accepted as we arent doing jumps in our rods?
    cheers Julian

I’ve had it jacked up from the frame and it still clears. The steering drag link is long enough wheee there is enough movement.
