I know Pete & Jake's got sold years ago and the two Coupes went with the sale. Did it get sold again? An internet search only turns up a link to Jeg's.
I looked for their website, and it is currently messed up (a bunch of bobbles and bits). Hopefully it will be fixed soon and you can see it again.
Thanks! Tried to answer a question on another site and just wondered why there was no working website. Bob
Working just fine for me. Don’t know why every time someone’s website is wonky it goes straight to they are closed/ sold/ gone. could do something crazy like call them first.
Ain't that the ****in truth! Try searching what you're used to and you get alphabet soup. I wanted some vintage Cadillac parts and got LED lights and **** for Escalades. Sometimes I look up Packad **** and all I get is Hewlett-Packard electronics. Really? I can buy a 1941 Hewlett-Packard copy machine? Maddening...
I ***ume your initial spelling of Packard include the r in your search. as we know a single error or lower /upper case miscue will result in chaos, it does for me.
A Google or other source search is going to give results that depend on the wording of your search. Top one is what you get if you just type in Pete and Jakes. You get their site but get two quick links too Summit. That said, most of my searches show Summit as a primariy vendor for them. At least the Slover family seems to appreciate their vendors who sell a lot of parts for them. My friends who own a clothing store here in town are the number one independent seller of Pendleton Blankets in the world and sell thousands of blankets a year in the store and online. Years ago Pendleton mills found out that if you did a search for Pendleton Blankets their link came up first and threw a fit saying that they had to stop listing the blankets in their header. Rather like cutting off your nose to spite your face as they were selling over a million dollars worth of Pendleton products a year then.
True, but if you can't find the website, finding the phone number and /or the state they are in is a bit of a problem. Bib
You must have been doing something wrong. It pops up at the top of the searches I do. Pete & Jakes Hot Rod Parts (peteandjakes.com) 800-334-7240 You aren't using Yahoo for a search engine by chance? They always send you off on a wild goose chase. Yahoo on top bing below that.
hey the top looks good! Haven’t seen him since he chopped the windshield down further a couple years back!
Jason really knows his stuff and will take time to talk to you about whatever you are working on and need some info on. Nice guy too. Also, I do like to tell people that all they need to do is spend $1000 and they get a free T shirt!
Golly finally someone does it the right way ! I just commented 2 weeks ago that you never know what's there till you walk through the door . Building cars ain't changed and same goes for getting parts . Ya can't get there ask someone get or find it for you . Glad they still in business cause alot of Cal Rods are Pete & Jake's equipped . Them out of business don't make sense someone really banged their head man better get some ice ! Lol
Unfortunately your google search results can be unique to your browser and search history based on what you search and what the algorithm thinks you're most likely to click on. Mine has Pete and Jakes website as the first thing with the same search term you used. When I cleared all my browser data at work a few weeks ago and searched for my company, the first several results were our compe***ors. Before clearing the browser, the first result was my company. Your personal data makes a big difference in web searches these days. In today's world you don't need to see the website to get the number. Below is a google search screen shot. All the information you need about the business is on the right. Heck, if it's marked permanently closed it will show there too. That's all fine and dandy if you have these places close. I live in Canada, we have some hot rod parts vendors but most are gone. The best prices and selection are online or by phone orders.
I know this dilemma alot of restorer/Rodders in remote areas experience . That is one reason why projects are found in the Back 40 or as I call it ' Deep Space Nine ' . This is why in my post I recommend using your computer to network with those who are within reach of the sources you need before hitting the click finger pad on your mouse . Yes it's added work and you need to socialize and you need patience with your build but your build will be a solid North American build and I also do this networking thing now . Listen - I have been doing this for 48 years and never went on HAMB till May 2021 when I began to share my knowledge and skills and also learn about 8BA engines . I know the A21 quite well but 8BA is not the same in many ways and different parts . So I needed a network for the 8BA and parts right ? So a year and a half later I am still building two engines with all original parts and so these parts I get here at swap meets and also get parts from a car collectors inventory and I have built up a North American Network mostly of HAMBers for about half of my parts . HAMB and inventories of car collectors are my auto parts stores I've not a single part from any online parts houses . Example - We are installing 1.7 " Chevy valves in an 8BA . Summit yoyos between $12 and $23 each . I've not seen the $12 price offered to me in awhile but somewhere between two oceans I know someone has a box of them they are willing to sell me for $100 so this is my current network . Will it happen ? I do t know until I try for a couple months . Alot of guys need to check and see if they still have theirs and they network with others also . I just may find a box by end of March 2023 for $100 . All you gotta do is ask but your impatience is what's got you clicking Summit and Shoebox not the unavailability of parts . Take a deep breath and give it a go ! Quite honestly I am amazed to be building a true Vintage 8BA only thing I'm clicking for basically are gaskets and a belt . Build up a team and start asking ! It's funner than clicking ! Another example - It is you I am going to ask first for parts on a Mercury pickup . You guys do have some fine parts and projects !
Thanks for the morning entertainment. I tried for 7 years to find a good and/or reasonably priced set of original rear fenders for my current project that were worth paying for. No luck. If I had bought good repros back in 2015 from a local vendor (who now closed up shop), it would have been $800. Instead, I spent nearly 3 times that to get them this year when I gave up on finding originals. I talked to lots of people, they were either holding and not selling, not holding, or the price was just too much for stuff that needed way too much work. So yes, I was very patient, and in the end it just cost me a lot more money. I've built cars that I scrounged almost everything, and scrounge as much as I can but sometimes you just need to buy the stuff.
