Hey all! The Merc is running; looks like the car is going to make it to the Duck Tail Run... Now there is the issue of tires.. I've heard a lot of bad things recently of the Coker Wide Whites. Size will be a 205 or 215 on a 15" wheel. What are the other options available?
I'll second that. The diamondbacks I got were really nice and have held up great over the last 3 years of hard use. That Merc is fuckin sick BTW. Let's see some more pics
Well another Diamond Back dude chiming in. Like 'em alot and when they get dirty you can scrub the hell out of them to bring 'em back to life
Hey all! Thanks for the compliments on the car.. It's been a dream of Dad and I to have a chopped Merc for years... Where is the best place to buy Diamondback tires? I did a google search and found one site that carries them but no sizing or pricing.. I did get a lot of interesting information on rattlesnakes and bicycles when searching however... Also interested in this 'making your own whitewalls' idea... Re: how much it's been chopped.... Let's just say 'it's pretty significant' and leave it at that... And, I'm 6'7"!!! Another couple pictures.. -KatsAss
I run Fireston whitewalls (Gumdipped') diagonals on my Chevy (16x6), never had anything to complain about!
I've also bought tires from diamondback in the past, but unlike the others I wouldn't buy from them again. I had a bad experience with them and they would not stand behind their product. By the way, sweet Merc ya got there!!
So: Where is the best place to get a set of the tires mentioned in this tread?? Do you buy directly from Diamond back or through a distributor? -KatsAss
I have 15" 3"whites (BIAS) from Coker....Never had a problem, and I drive them hard (reasonable price too !!!!!!!!)
Well here is a link to a way we did it ourselves on youngrodderz, if you wanted to put them on yourself. http://s15.invisionfree.com/youngrodderz/index.php?showtopic=946
I bought my Diamondbacks direct from them -- somewhere in the South. Nice guy, very helpful. I'm pleased with them.
Have had three sets of Diamondbacks...prefer them over ALL...smooth running tire, balance easily, whites stay white and easy to clean...radials of course... Go Here: www.dbtires.com or 1 888-922-1642 R-
Hey all: Thanks to all for the information. I think we're going to try the Krylon Fusion paint idea for the short term.. With the upcoming winter months, kinda hate to buy a new set of tires only to have them sit for 5 or 6 months... Then again, big Indy swap meet this weekend so maybe there will be some tires we can't live without! See you all in Gas City! -KatsAss
Ran a set of wide white bias ply slicks and skinnies on my rat rod for three years, they were Cokers, never had any problems with them.
