about HotRodDrummer, his shop truck and the creation of the GMB term and this past weekend was no exception. Matt wasn't in attendance, he was back in Ionia working on his Buick roadster, but I still thought about him on Saturday and chuckled to myself while I walked around with my Dad looking at the cars. Dad and I left Livonia at 9am in bright sunshine and warm temps so of course I had on a pair of capris, a t-shirt and sandels. By the time we got to Frankenmuth 1 1/2 hours later, the temp had droped about 30 degrees and it was rainy. Just my luck, no hoodie or coat. Right away we ran into HAMB member Starliner and his Grandpa Bill. Just so happened Starliner (Chris) had a coat in his truck and he let me borrow it....and it was red to boot, my favorite color! Thanks sweetie, very much appreiated. The first cars on the left as you enter the show area were the Nightmares and their friends. A large collection of traditional hot rods and customs with lots of folks milling around checking them out. The "Peterbeater" I was lucky enough to cope a hug from Pete Tom's, I think he's a HAMB member but I'm not sure what his screen name is JDubbya's, thanks again for the '48 license plate for Dad bud. Very much appreciated. And, for anyone who's interested, Joe's ride is for sale. PM him for details. HotRod2Hell's FuelPump's.....can't imagine why he didn't drive his convert and have the top down Always a pleasure seeing you Rich Kritz, who just got married. Congrats bud! I'm thrilled for you. Holy SMOKES! I love how the photos are showing up from my new camera! A Hokey Ass group shot Fast Eddie, his cool little grey primered roadster can be seen in the following photo. This little beauty belongs to Mariam, a local 60+ year old hot rod lady in the Metro Detroit Area. If she ever dumps her boyfriend I'd better be careful cuz Roadstar's been eyeing her...and her car for years. I'm not much into stockers but this Pontiac was bitchen Both Dad and I were all over this beauty In case you didn't read it on Hatch post, Friday evening was started by a bunch of rails cruzn down Main Street. Unfortunantly I wasn't there but they were all on display at the show with promises of a cacklefest type startup if the weather cleared a bit. Local builder Eddie Micheals always has something new each year This was just too cool not to take a photo of and share
This guy was cruzn all over Woodward durign the Dream Cruz. Glad I finally got a chance to see it up close All in all a great show despite the weather. Just as Dad and I were heading out we ran into Buckle. I don't know how the hell, with a 3 inch square viewer on the back, how Dad could cut our heads off..... sorry Greg. It was GREAT seeing you though.
Thanks for the pictures Denise. I like the 57 Olds it has been one I've liked since they were new, especially if they have the J2 engine.
Denise, Thanks for the great pics!! I think everyone else (including me ) forgot their cameras. You really saved the day for us. That new camera of yours is sick Every time I go to this show i think about the uproar the Ionia shop truck pictures caused on here. Where is GERM when you need him .
Thanks for the pics Denise, sorry I missed you again, I was wandering aimlessly all day long looking at cars??? weird huh!? I'll catch you sooner or later.
Just by chance did you realize it was me yelling at you as you cruz'd south on Woodward that Wednesday or so before the Dream Cruz?? I was on the eastside of Woodward, saw your car, hollared out "Hey Paintfumes" while I waved and you waved back. I know I was about 8 lanes away but did you know that was me?? I suppose with that cool car chicks are always waving at ya trying to get your attention.
Something is messed up with your camera Denise, in real life, I am a 6-2 200 lb supermodel. Great to see everybody. -Joe BTW- the orange bantam is owned by the infamous Norm Cooper, he was the guy who caused the oil shortage by driving his flatty powered roadster on the power tour... He made it, 68 quarts later.
Thanks Denise....I couldn't make it on sat or sunday, looks like a nice group in the "GMB Parking Only" area!!!.....(I wonder if germ is still pissed about my photoshop?)....
Cool Pictures, except that last one ! Wish I could have been there but circumstances were out of my control....I may have a line on getting one of the parks next year, a friend works at the Bavarian Inn, I'm thinking a HAMB area ala Autorama may be doable next year at Frankenmuth!
Damn....I'm a scrawny little bastard!! Rudy is right, we are a homely bunch. Our cars drew the attention of just about everyone. The ride in on Sat. morn was a blast. We only lost one vehicle in the rain. A chopped and channeled '34 Ford truck got a cap full of water on it's '46 Flathead and couldn't make the entire trip. Fast Eddie and I were runnin' well over the speed limit on the freeway in our open-wheeled roadsters in the rain. Gotta love the sound of open pipes, roaring tires, and the gentle slam of rain on your face at 80 mph first thing in the morning.
Great shots and the new camera looks great.........any more pix of this car? Chris Nelson Kansas Local builder Eddie Micheals always has something new each year
were you ever a girl scout? be prepared, pack a jacket because the weather is crazy and you never know when you gonna need one. nice photos
Had a bunch of fun at frankenmuth. The drive in the morning rain was awsome. Didnt realise we were moving so fast until we didnt see the rest of the convoy. Warming up with pancakes and hanging out with everyone. The nitro dragsters were cool. Watching kids run in fear and adults flee as there eyes water.
yep, I was and I do know better. In fact, in Big Olds there is always a jacket and umbrella BUT Dad wouldn't ride in Big Olds so we took his car and I was uncharacteristicly unprepared.
It's funny that you mention that... When we started the club, we had a REALLY hard time deciding between "The NIGHTMARES" and "A Bunch of Ugly Guys With Only Slightly More Attractive Cars"! Thanks for the pics Denise... I had my camera in the car all weekend, but on Saturday I was worried I'd get frostbite on my fingers if I took my hands out of my pockets, and then Sunday was so damn nice that I spent the whole day looking at cars; I didn't want to be stuck behind a camera!
Hey Denise, sorry I didn't run into you until just before you were leaving. I didn't know about the HAMB meet and greet, so I missed it! dang. I was up there Thursday thru Sunday, my uncle and I have made kind of a tradition. I had a great time with my 58, first year I've had it up there. My friend Smokewagon is becoming pretty well known for his 64 DIVCO. No prob on the pic Denise, I was thinking about a flat top haircut and I figure that's about how it's gonna look
Not to step all over you great post Denise, but it was GERM who created the GMB terminology. And it was in reference to Bob Bleed..... And he wasn't being funny - he really doesn't like GMBs..... ..cause they're not from Cali. And they're homos...
Yes, it was GERM who created the term but it was in reference to HotRodDrummer's "patina-ed" shop truck when he saw the truck in photos from the Frankenmuth show years ago. Hatch then photoshopped a nakeed photo of Germ on a motorcycle in the back of Matt's truck and then I believe it was Donzie that created the Gay Bitches of Michigan dildo dragster drag plate all on the same thread. I believe Matt has the thread. I'll PM him and ask him to post it if he does. I don't remember BobBleed having anything to do with the thread. Oh yeah, and this GMB (me) is actually from "Cali"
