I've got Four sets of restored Cal Custom valve covers. These have been blasted, and run through the aluminum "reskinning" process at Lamar Walden Automotive. Gl*** beading opens the pores in the surface, and gives them an unnatural white luster. The reskinning process closes the pores and leaves them natural aluminum. No cracks. These sets are as nice as you'll find anywhere. One pair of the FE valve covers has had a couple fins next to the firewall, ground to clear master cylinders and air boxes... unless you're specifically looking for it, you likely will never notice once it's on the engine.
