After I got out of the Army I worked as a mechanic for a dairy in SoCal for while. Worked on many Divco's (Detroit Industrial Vehicle Company) The dairy at one time had 100's of them. Most had the old Continental sixes replaced with Ford 300's. The milkmen drove the piss out of them but they kept on chugging along in spite of the abuse.

My buddy had one, with the slide gas pedal. He put a 390 Ford in it.

From my youth I could picture the Milkman delivery guy either standing or siting down driving. I would guess that the Go Peddle would have to be in more that one location? What is this sliding Gas Pedal you speak of. Pictures Anyone? DSCN8195.JPG DSCN8183.JPG
