This 1960 Corvair's name is "Stubby" for obvious reasons. Was a 4-door now a 2-door. The builder's reason for chopping up a perfectly good moreDoor and making this fetching coupe vesion? His kids were grown up and gone so he didn't need a back seat anymore. You got a better reason?? 071216-Barn-Finds-1960-Chevrolet-Corvair-1.jpg

Maybe some of them are fresh out of the NAVY. I had to work hard to reset my "civilian" language when I got out. I made it to supervisor in my company and have been complimented on how well I can speak with people. It was not simple to get to that point. I find that I am apt to use swear words around people I am comfortable with. Not sure why. Maybe because my truest friends were made while I was in the NAVY and that seems like the norm?

My T modified is named Brownie. Pretty self explanatory. 6FA66A69-5F0E-4772-8341-DB87489B250D.jpeg The 32’s name is Rusty. When I started building the car my then 5 year old son saw all the surface rust on it and said it was rusty. The name stuck even though the car had virtually no rust other than surface rust. 798AA185-BC73-4FD5-B45B-296831E518B1.jpeg My single seater name is It-L-Do. I built 95% of this car myself, I’m not a sheetmetal guy and I really suck at wiring but I told myself I’d do it myself. My thought was if I do a job that I’m happy with with no help from anyone it will do. So now it’s the It-L-Do Special. 53899E06-2F84-40F3-A8A6-F44643F2DB65.jpeg The T roadster doesn’t have a name yet. This car is a father son project my dads name is Tom and I’m Tim so I thought TNT= Tom n Tim. Who knows if it will stick. 34444E25-734F-45A2-BDF5-EB2D7D3C1720.jpeg

I'm the opposite. I was a teacher for years, so once I quit, I was quite happy to be able to use non standard English as often as possible, commit errors on purpose, and curse often.

Which I still fu*ki*g do to this day....

My wife's car. It was a most difficult build because of all the new parts that were poor quality or did not work. I named it, she drives it. IMG_6627.JPG

  12. I love those back windows, and the color reminds me of chocolate milk, so I'd call it Ovaltine.

I just learned that my son has also named my new GMC. Since his pickup is Guido, I guess mine is Luigi...

A friend's 1964 Corvair coupe. Previous owner was a drag racer and had three engines for the car: #1 was a fresh rebuild back in the car and ready for the weekend warrior activity, #2 was just about rebuilt and ready to go back in the car after engine #1 met it's fate at the track and #3 was in a pile of blown-up parts waiting for #2 to get off of the engine test stand so it could get a rebuild. He spent a LOT of time in the garage building engines and a lot of time on the weekends blowing them up. His wife didn't see him very much. Eventually she got tired of all this car stuff and called hubby out. "You spend all your time with that darn, black car (the Corvair was Tuxedo Black)! It is just like the other woman!" And she gave the car it's name, "the Black Bitch". Maybe not PC, but it expressed her feelings. This was many, many years ago. My friend John has passed on and I was able to get the car and of course I had to replace the engine... 290396548_1083059305945780_4170714147828904346_n.jpg

I don't normally name things but a while back I saw a post someone put up about his beautiful '30 Model A roadster and he described it as being such a "Betty". I replied with a picture of mine and said "I got one too, but she's an Ugly Betty". Now I have the name stuck in my head and it will always be Ugly Betty.

I've got an old 50 Studebaker truck that I've had for 40 years. When I drive it I say I am on Study Duty, or just Stewed!

  23. When our twin girls were around 3 years old they called my old '65 Ford truck "spot"
They used the term and soon Brenda & I used it also, time passed and one day I asked them why they call the truck spot.

They were play in the bed of the truck and discovered a primer red spot in the center of the cabs roof where a hole had been filled after a 2 way radio antenna had been removed. HRP

  29. A lot of hot rods have come and gone in my life but my old "Beater" 1932 Ford sedan that I have owned for 35 years come 2023 has been my favorite car, it's not near as nice as some other cars I have owned but every piece of sheet metal rolled off the assembly line, it's all Henry Ford but that doesn't make it any better than the next guys rod or custom, I love this car.
