I have a TCI, 1932 frame with small block chevy engine mounts welded to the frame.
I now want to install a 302 small block Ford engine.
Is there a motor mount that will work without cutting off the chevy engine mounts?

Nothing says commitment like cutting out sbc mounts 8185E266-9C52-4BC5-9592-3F2C73B21776.jpeg 14A1BC15-6016-4F0E-83C3-6F1EA247F465.jpeg CFF0FC16-032B-4903-AD8F-837172211B88.jpeg 9ABEAE98-CBC4-4431-B928-E0403AC45172.jpeg AA46AEAB-9237-4AE0-B49D-3F785B84E842.jpeg

Cut out the Chev mounts and weld in Ford mounts. Do it properly.

Ok is there a measurement on where to locate the SBF engine mounts on the frame?

You want the fan 3/4" from the radiator.

Yes but I currently have a bare frame. Going to cut off the chevy motor mounts but where do I weld the SBF engine mounts?

You’re going to have to get farther along before you weld the mounts. You’ll need the radiator and body in place to correctly position the engine and trans. Oh and by the way, you will probably have to change or modify the trans mount too.

These are are shots of my friend Tom's 32 when he had it at the 2019 Deuce Days NW. The car has been sold and is somewhere back east now. I'm not sure if the firewall was recessed before he had it and put the Ford in it or not. I can ask about the mounts. toms 32 engine rt-1.jpg Toms 32 engine left-1.jpg Toms 32 engine front-1.jpg Toms coupe side shot-1.jpg Tom's 32 in primer-1.jpg

Agreed, you need the firewall in place and at least someting taking up the space the radiator will to properly set it up.

Several companies make motor mounting kits to put a SBF into a '32 frame. TCI, Speedway, SoCal, there are plenty to choose from. If you are buying a kit, it will give you the dimensions you need for proper installation.
If you plan to make them yourself, you have no choice but to mockup the engine and trans with the water pump, pulleys and fan and the radiator that you're going to use. Then start making templates to use to cut out the metal parts.

Mount the radiator and firewall, those are the two items that will be set in stone. You’ll need the block (with water pump and fan) and trans as well. You’ll probably need an intake to get the angle correctly set.

The best way to answer this is "put them where they need to be".

I had hoped to weld the Ford 302 engine mounts to the frame then install the engine and set the body on the frame.
Can I use the front sump oil pan on the Ford 302 or do I need a rear oil sump pan? I am going to use a straight front axle. Thank you guys for the pictures and information. They are a big help in directing me in what I need to do.

    Front sump is fine.
Just be aware you will not be able to use an uncut stock firewall. We have no idea what you have for a body. Most gl*** ones have a flat firewall, which is fine.
Also, never ***ume with measurements. Tack the engine mounts and only fully weld once you have the body and radiator (+shell and hood) all in place to verify clearances etc.

Best way is to mock it up when test fitting and building mounts. You will have the car together and apart multiple times. It’s not a puzzle that snaps together.

Noteworthy: The tiny Ford doesn't nestle into early Ford engine bays quite as easily as the 'larger' Chevy.
In 1956, HRM staffers exclaimed the new '56 265 went back in with more room than the flathead coming out!
That was in the '41 Ford pickup owned by staffer D'Olivio.

The project is a TCI 1932 frame that was pinched for a 28/29 Model A.
The body going on it is a steel 1930 Model A 5 window. This is my first street rod as I previously only had a 1955 Chevy. this is going to be all ford. Will the firewall need to be modified? I have a stock 1972 SBF 302. What is your recommendations on a transmission? Auto or manual?

SBF is longer than SBC. There are some short water pump conversions out there.
Trans? do you want to shift or not? C4 is a nice small transmission. The only overdrive without computer Ford had is an AOD

    I'd go for AOD trans.

Mockup and engine positioning has been described above.

The 28 pinch might be too much for the 30 body. Might give a weird fit at the firewall area.
