Just an update on my addiction....sold my roadster..built a rusty bike.....bought a bug project, gonna be socal highboy style.............I know bugs are hated around here....but that's what I'm buildin and I won't bore ya with the coming details....
You can keep ME posted, not sure about everyone else. Join the SAMBA, post there for sure! Let me know what your "handle" is.
Didn't stay clean for long, did ya. Besides, I can admit to my first automotive desire was a Bug with the 40Ford conversion from the JC Whitless catalog.
HI Jeem...howzit going? Havent posted here much since the jockeyjournal started. I've been checkin out the samba. I wish there was more vw stuff in michigan, but there isn't...can't wait to get thrashin!!
Hi Matt....empty space in the shop doesnt last very long...I gotta call speedway tomorrow and get a crossmember and a beam axle for this thing......looks like I'll be the garage hermit for a couple months!!!....Hope you're havin fun!!!....later...hatch
Steve, having lots of fun...driving the wheels off. Kids are all over me to finish the rumble seat. Thanks
Sorry but I like the bugs, too. they can be a sweet rod. can be built scary fast, too!!! Best thing about the bugs is the CHEAP parts. Interior kit like $200 or something. Like the SBC of foreign cars
Even though this isnt the place for them, I love VWs also-- built Traditional Cal Look / DKP style. Im just not one to try to turn a VW into a model A or put a set of BRMs on a shoebox. That said, my last original cal look bug ran 11.80 in the quarter mile normally aspirated, and I drove it from LA to LACR in Palmdale on the freeway. So yeah, like you said-- they can haul ***. By the way, love the rusty Triumph. Good luck with the VW. -scott noteboom
You did what???? Oh man Steve, I'm glad you didn't let me know your roadster was up for grabs. I probably would've sold a kidney or something. I could've parked it next to your old bike I'll have to swing by and check out the bug. I'm sure it will end up being cool if you're working on it.
Thanks Scott (Noteboom)....I still think topics on this board deserve a little leeway.....I'm not planning on a continuing saga of the build...maybe a finished pic though. When a couple of us on the board started posting bike stuff....mostly triumphs, Ryan rewarded us with the jockeyjournal.....I'll be he could do the best vw board...period!!!
THANKS!!!.....Swing by anytime.....Have you tackled the valve adjustment yet???...Just let me know if you need a hand....hatch
Nearly everyone ends up with a VW project sometime in their life Dunno why, it's just one of the rules of teh universe I suppose... Keep me updated hatch.
