On a similar note...I would like to find a 3-speed manual column for my 56 if anyone is doing a swap like this. I want to go the other way.

  3. I have a 1955 3 speed column and trying to convert to AOD. Let me know if you are interested.

For some reason, I was thinking that 55 and 56 columns are different? That is at least what I have been told. I could be wrong though.

The '56 column is shorter to accommodate the '56 dished steering wheel. You'll need the matching wheel when swapping between years.

Thanks! I knew something was different and needed a reminder. With as original as my car is, I want to keep the original 56 wheel so guess I need a 56 column.

  7. My bad, you are correct.

There are 2 Facebook pages I follow. They don’t cover 52-59’s but for 55-56 they are fun and good. One for production stock 55-56 and one modified 55-56. The production one lets contributors post parts for sale.
