Last night I was pretty jazzed, and posted about getting my kid a stuffed beaver for his bar, and in return, he gave me a set of cherry 1956 CA plates that he had been hoarding for years, for my 56 Bird. It was deleted, with the "reason",
Your post in the thread Nice Christmas trade- 56 plates! was deleted. Reason: off topic.

Seriously? How is getting a set of 1956 plates for a 1956 Thunderbird (which is a 427 powered, fenderwell headers, Torque Thrusts, straight axle hotrod) for Christmas "off topic"? I'd really like an answer to this- just seems a little over the top. Of course there is no appeal or who did it, none of that- just severe buzzkill. If I suddenly get the **** monster and disappear from the forum, I guess you'll know why

Nope. You just don’t read the rules. Hell, I had to move this thread because you posted it in the wrong forum.

I guess I am not quite clear, either. I get this thread being here, but what was wrong with the initial post? Thanks.

Sadly, the HAMB isn't a democracy. It has rules that the moderators "interpret"...and we have to live with it, or leave...I prefer to stay.;)

It was just a thread explaining the trade... and two pictures of a stuffed Beaver. I just went and looked. **** like this will get deleted every time:

    upload_2022-12-13_10-45-13.png

And then to get on here and complain that you are being singled out? Complain about moderation?

Dude... I'm not discounting your feelings here, but the content and the complaint aren't lining up at all.

OK, thanks for the reply. Please inform me which rule I violated by posting about 1956 plates for a 1956 hotrod Thunderbird as a Christmas present from my kid, in exchange for a stuffed critter for his bar, and how it is "off topic". I was pretty jazzed about getting the plates, and as there are many similar posts by others, seems a bit selective and over the top. My Bird is definitely on topic, and cherry 1956 CA plates would seem to be on topic? Thanks again for replying, and Merry Christmas!

You posted two pictures of a stuffed beaver on a forum about traditional hot rods and customs... and then complained you were being singled out by moderation.

Am I going crazy here or am I missing something? Totally possible that I am out of my mind, but...

Sorry if Beaver Cleaver is a sore spot- I was jazzed about getting the 1956 plates for my hot rod 1956 Bird. I chose not to post pics of the plates as they haven't been cleared or tied to the vehicle yet. Merry Christmas, I hope you get a nice hot rod gift like I did!

I grudgingly stay as I watch this forum serve an aging population and leave behind builders who don't have access to "correct" parts and processes to build a "Time Correct" clone. It is what it is and we are what we are.

Reminds me of a quote I read at some point. I'll prolly get this wrong, but:

If you don't like something, take away it's only power - your attention.

Moderation is active on the HAMB as I love traditional hot rods and customs.

  13. I do not claim to speak for Ryan or any Mod, but had you posted one picture of the plates & one picture of the"Beaver" in the context of your story, thing would have probably been different!

You have to remember this is a privately owned forum & Ryan is completely within his right to dictate what is allowed & what is not. While I do not always agree with the decisions, I have to respect the fact that it is completely his (their) decision & if I don;t like it .....I am completely within my right to LEAVE! I choose to stay as I believe it is the best car forum on the internet.

Over the last year I had 2 pictures deleted that I was disappointed in, but not enough to raise a fuss.

One was a picture of my new wife & I freezing our ****s off watching the Model A clubs Christmas Parade...Many of which fit in the Hamb guidelines, I never said a word. Recently a very important historical match race picture between 2 of my old friends (one recently deceased) was deleted because one didn't have the "proper" wheels. To me that is just silly given the importance of the historical value of the match race. In the end though it is the Mods decision & I choose to stay!!!!

    God Bless & Merry Christmas
    Bill

Oh, no worries, I knew it was you lol- you don't like me, and I can't change that. If the pics of Beaver Cleaver, a Christmas present to my kid that got me the cherry 1956 plates are a problem, I would have gladly deleted them, if asked. How are 1956 CA plates for a hot rod 427 1956 Thunderbird "completely off topic"? I was just really jazzed about getting the cherry 1956 plates for Christmas. Merry Christmas, even to you lol

This is the world we live in.

Dude posts something obviously off topic and of no real value to the forum. And when it's deleted, it's not about the content... it's about him.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

I'm getting fed up. Don't like the joint? Take a hike.
