About 15 years back, someone told me about a strange white car that had been sitting in an open field for many ears. I went to check it out, and somehow found the owner. Turns out, many years earlier the fellow had seen this car parked in town, and it was on a trip with another car, and just happened to be in Fairfield, Idaho. He liked it, bought it, and parked it. He never did drive the ******. Well, I talked him out of it, right after I noticed that the '40 Ford ch***is not only had an Olds mill sporting 4 97's on a Horn intake adopted to the Ford side shift, but also had Kinmont Disc Brakes on all four corners. The body was a Graham "Stardust", and in the movie was called a Tomahawk... Through a bunch of research I learned that there were two of these used in the movie. One was used for the close up shots, and the other for the racing scenes. The nice one had a flatty, and opening doors. The other had the olds and the doors did not open.... I reckon for safety. I sold the Kinmonts to Kurt McKormick, and the car ended up with Jeffrey Hacker, a long time friend.
Isn't that same car in Johnny Dark? There is something quintessentially "kit car" about all of these strange fibergl*** cars. Usually, the wheels are sort of awkwardly located in the wheel wells or the wheelbase is just a little strange or... there's always something a little off...
