Just found out on another forum that HAMB member Torchie passed away today. Torchie was really into old customs and was building a chopped, channeled and sectioned 49 Dodge Coronet. He recently was diagnosed terminal, and the Dodge was put up for sale on Marketplace. I only knew him from his posts but he sure seemed like someone you would love to hang around with. His medical problems over the years caused the loss of one of his legs, but he didn’t let that stop him. His grit and determination made me feel like a wuss at times. He will be missed not only by family and close friends but the custom community as well. RIP Torchie. Thoughts and prayers to family and friends.
Torchie had also built a really cool 41 ford pickup based on a 41 car a few years back Another great customizer gone RIP Torchie
Awww man. Another hot rodder who I never met, but enjoyed. I'll miss seeing his posts. God bless. Thanks, @BamaMav
He was a great guy. We chatted a lot about his Dodge. And his good leg. Didn't let his problems stop him doing what he loved.
Very sad news. We shared so many funny great times despite the tyranny of distance and never meeting face to face. Rest In Peace mate!
Oh my gosh, I met him first when I was in my early teens. He was really good friends with my late uncle. My uncle was the auto shop teacher in Charlevoix Michigan in the 70’s & 80’s and Carl was initially one of his students and remained a good friend of his.
He owned the 1953 Victoria which was shown at the 1955 Ford Rotunda custom car show in the late 70’s. It was in one of the magazines at the time called Queen of the Vic’s. It was a Clarkaiser custom. Someone here on the HAMB had it and it passed hands a few times.
R.I.P. Torchie, Our thoughts & prayers go out to his family & friends. I too enjoyed his posts, he will be missed by the car hobby. God Bless Bill https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum...ar-transport-hauling-open-or-enclosed.614419/
Wow...hate to hear this. Praying for his family and friends. Sounds like someone I wish I could have met.
So sad to hear. We’ve lost so many great old hotrodders over the years. my condolences to his friends and family.
R.I.P. I wondered why he wasn't posting. It's not unusual for members to leave so when there's no posts, I don't think it's always health related.
So sorry to hear this. He was quite the inspiration forging ahead despite hinderances of health, weather, money and more. His love of customs made a way to make it happen. Prayers for his family.
