Some bellhousing are tough to find, I have one but never even crossed my mind I would be standing over it or beside it revving 3500 rpm ,there will never be another one on it again without a bellhousing and probably a metal fan shroud, should really have something over the fan belts too ,but what fun is doing things without a little risk LOL
Are they car people ?? One of the oldest car clubs around started in Brantford I believe , Piston Pushers
Since I would only use one occasionally, I never wanted to spend the time to fabricate one. This thread has got me thinking, there are two old generator sets in my yard that have out lived their life expectancy. Both have heavy channel frame beams, v8 mounts, radiator, battery holder. I'm more then half way there.
Mine is similar to one in an earlier post. It was important to be able to disassemble mine and store it in a small space. I bought the plans for mine off evilbay and modified them for the material I had. I've also painted it since the first pics. It's been used for a 383 and a 468 build I did.
I just picked this one up...looks to have been built in the mid 60s. Uses a Hurst mount for the front and a cast iron bellhousing for the rear. Radiator looks like 50s GM. Has an 8 track player..chrome speaker grills on the side. Throttle is a lever with a valve cover T bolt to keep it in a certain spot. My plan is to clean it up and just have a display engine that can be started for shits and grins...kind of like a garage cacklefest.
