    Are you trying to identify an engine or why do you ask? Any other distinguishing features?

    i don't believe any manufacturer made a straight 8 22 stud head.

  6. If you found a flathead V8 and just counted the headbolts in an effort to identify it you may have missed the one headbolt under the oil filter bracket.
    Otherwise you may have overlooked the two other bolts that hold the bracket on. Thats how you got 22 or 23 instead of 24.
    Then again maybe it was the 21 stud version and you counted one bolt twice.
    If your counting the bolts from a lousy pic someone sent you its even more fun . Eventually you get X-eyed.

    Never heard of a 22 bolt Ford

    To identifye the 21 or 24 bolt V8 flatheads.

    Count the lower head bolts
    5=21 , 8=24.
