Hey all, so there was a member that posted these Holley 94/Stromberg 97 "side wacker" carb adapters in the cl***ifieds section a few years ago. I'd like to purchase them, but I haven't gotten an answer from calling, emailing, or messaging through the board here. The member that listed them hasn't logged in here for over a year, so I'm guessing it's a dead end, but if anyone knows him (Jerry Hopkins) I'd love to get in contact and see what the status on them is. I'm wondering if anyone has a line on who was making them, or if anyone has a few laying around they'd like to part with.
Jerry Hopkins was the rep. for Oldtime Speed, Melbourne, AU. https://www.oldtimespeed.com.au/ (They have a contact page). https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100063552133552 (phone +61 408 289 302)
I picked up one of Keith's flyers and business card at a recent run. While it doesn't show the "Side-Wacker" carb adapter that the OP posted it does show a lot of the items listed in the above post. The card and flyer list an email address and mobile phone number if you need it.
Jerry Hopkins is a resident of Corsicana,Texas—-known him for many years—-do NOT have a current phone number.
Appears to be a modern interpretation of the Almquist piece, there's one on eBay right now: https://www.ebay.com/itm/394369900262?hash=item5bd2471ee6:g:ZtEAAOSwdc9jkhmk&amdata=enc:AQAHAAAA4KVgP0Ey4lffan9J+BR30agY13vC/YNsrrOxQX94DCRO9c6fbZBF//ZH5l89KVTDr0l0Pc40TXAbWKc1k1EylfMVpSX4t0iONgjMkdxYBu7t2Zfd/Nj7gPUenIJM2kUfKkpAn/s9unJtsvlOjVsTLtyXHOC4QOCJiQFN7IA9OKvd10gBSW49bLo3R+PYREp4EufjejJPWy7tYk1HEPuGqFMFeMk8tXZ8Y36VWWoZhKMpsmjZnOqWo8WnW/523qsis7wn9xCuRc2zkZHX0Wg1qHXzZFH0MjrR0vRZrbpiLJHd|tkp:Bk9SR5KU5-6hYQ Edit: I see now that this new adapter allows side-by-side carbs, while this one allows inline duals. My mistake. ~Peter
Sweet, that's a good lead that maybe I can go right to the source and see if they have any left. Thanks a bunch!
That's been the issue I've run into, is all the modern interpretations from Vintage Speed and even the original ones like you posted are all inline. I'm specifically needing a side by side.
Simply cut the inline adapter available, rotate 90 degrees, weld …. Makes sense to me if they are no longer available.
I got ahold of the shop in Australia that makes them, it sounds like they'll be able to get me a few of them after the holidays!
