Day before yesturday the 'No Bux Special' hit the road for the first time. My father-in-law (Aisle7) and I took it out to a little gathering at the local Foster Freeze in Sebastapol. There's a lot of people to thank on this car and I don't want to bore the HAMB, so Thanks. Here's a photo, we forgot the camera when we took of for the show, but here you go... Quite a bit more work to be done on it, but damn it's fun. The *** end is dragging a bit following the installation of the gas tank behind the rear spring and the spring settling, but beyond that the car roaded very well for the maiden voyage.
Looks cool. You'll have a ball in that thing for sure. Can't wait to drive my new ride for the first time. It's a little tough to get it out of the garage here in Michigan right now.
Yeh, we're a bit spoiled in California. Although we had a little rain during the ride. It just made for more fun...
If you made it to Sebastapol from Folsom, then I'd say it worked damn well for a maiden voyage. Looks like serious fun! congrats
The car is '23 Dodge Roadster with a F-1 ford rear end and a sbc 305 driven it. I think the next step is to do a bunch of body work, and I hope to get a lot of hints from the HAMB.
Well...it's not as good as it sounds. We drove it from my Father-in-laws place in Santa Rosa. It's a 10 minute drive at best. The long test runs will begin soon. After that short run we found that the rear spring shackle had bottomed out and dented the rear end cover plate. Gotta fix this before any long trips. I'm going to add some spacers in the rear spring to give it about a 2" lift to counter the weight added by the fuel tank and hopefully this will provide enough clearance for that shackle as well. Any other ideas???
