Folks Of Interest So I guess I am the only one that didn’t realize Holley bought Halibrand?

I saw an ad on IG this morning that they are being back the kidney bean styled wheel. The funny thing is they are marketing it towards the C10 crowd. I guess they see low hanging fruit there.

I haven’t had a chance to really peruse the wheel types, but they are coming in the old Dow 7 gold look. Probably powder coated or anodized. They also had a full gray magnesium look on a few as well.

Anyway, they own the name now. Just an FYI. I’m sure there’s already a thread on this somewhere I missed…

  7. pretty soon everything will be Holley owned. they are buying up small local parts places left and right.

  8. Remember WR Grace and Mr. Gasket? One has to wonder if history has taught companies better management. :)

It is an unfortunate side effect of Wall Street's demand for all companies to realize 8% to 10% of annual growth each year, or the stock price is punished. Because the overall market that Holley plays in is stable at best, or most likely shrinking, the only way to achieve growth is to merge with similar sized companies or purchase smaller ones. This of course leads to short term management decisions that sacrifice long term stability, i.e. Mr. Gasket.

That is probably a bit too off topic for the HAMB, so here is a bit of art work to inspire someones next custom build.

It'll be like in the movie Demolition Man when all the restaurants are named Taco Bell after the franchise wars.

I just worry about the state of things. The whole reason for this post was the silly marketing ploy for C10's. Shouldn't they be trying to sell truck rally wheels with beauty rings instead?

  12. no, slotted mags are pretty hot on any year C10 60-87 really. Early 6 lug 15s go fast when I see them pop up for sale locally. The turbines I can see being popular for that 70s look. The corvette style rallys are more niche than mags, based on what I see when Im with my c10 buddies.

Not sure why they would not market to the C10 crowd.

I see far more tricked-out C10's day-to-day than I do anything resembling a hot rod or custom, to the tune of about 100-to-1.

I thought it odd, because they are pimping Champ/Sprint wheels to the C10 crowd. They have given up on the hot rod and street rod crowd, because that market is tapped out. Now onto the next up and coming generation of spenders.

  17. Having helped start a multi million $$$ specialty company I can see the allure of cashing out when the time is right. You have no idea what the funding is like early on for small startups. Stability and a normal paycheck means a LOT at times.

    Double-truth!

Our economy is very harsh on small, and even medium-sized businesses. It is not any kind of surprise that they offer themselves up for sale to larger companies, or investiment groups.

95% of startups fail. NINETY FIVE PERCENT!

I have been offered equity in lieu of pay in may of the companies that I am helping get assembled and moving. I never take it.

Since 1999, I have managed to have gathered ~$2,200,000.00 in shares of companies that no longer exist.

I'd much rather see 70's-80's Chevy trucks driving around than new Toyota Tundras. And if they have Halibrands on them, all the better!

This is a secret, so don't tell anybody..... I've had my eye on a shortbox mid 80's Chevy sitting beside an industrial building in town for a while. I'd bet it could be bought. But then I'd have to pony up for some high $$ Holleybrands.

I'd have to think that a lot of smaller manufacturers are getting bought up in the past few years because there is no one with the money to buy them and keep them independent and no family members who are willing to or capable of taking them over. I've seen two local and very successful businesses, One a parts house and warehouse distributor and one being the go to auto electric shop in the region both close out because the offspring of the owners were not functionally capable of running the business. The auto electric shop was even offered up on here with no one stepping up to buy it out. This was a turn key business with a capable crew in place to continue the work as long as they had good management to handle the business end. Both of those businesses had the ownerss have to come back out of retirement to run the business that their adult kids had not been capable of running.
The good with the Halibrand name surviving even though 90% of their current product isn't Hamb friendly is that we may still be able too buy Hamb friendly new Halibrands in the future. Meanwhile all those Silverados running around with gaudy rims can pay the tab to keep the name going.

Funny a freind of mine here locally just swapped out his Supremes for a set of these gold Halibrands recently. I just noticed it in his driveway last week, havent stopped by to check it out in person yet. Looked pretty good from to me from across the street.
