Since ive been thrashing on this car every night/day and posting pictures, I figured I'd keep them all to 1 post. Nothing special as im a hack, but i know how everyone likes looking at pictures and it helps me to look at my own progress so i keep on pushin'!

I found some really tiny (1/4 inch diamond) expanded steel that i tacked in for a grill insert as I hate to spend 500 on a radiator when the one i have is working perfectly fine. I kinda dont like inserts, but this will have to do, but it doesnt look redneck and when painted black I think it will actually look good

the problem is the radiator/grill sits up about 1.5 to 2 inches too high :( well....to ME it does...what do you guys think? im going to lower it tonight, but my bottom raditator hose is cutting it close...so im hoping another 2 inches MAX will do it...it should.

tried to figure out how to mount/hit this monstrosity of a brake pedal setup.

unfortunatly it looks like the master is going to sit right under the damn body cross member, i can get the lid off with a screw driver and will drill a hole to fill it...

i think i still need to cut the pedal down a little.. maybe an inch or 2

tonight i have to lower the radiator mount as much as i can without the bottom hose hitting the front cross member, i think it will be "just" enough" as the front doesnt need to be lowered any more than 1.5-2 inches....i hope...

finish the chop on the doors and line them up right,

at least start to install the mini bearclaws on the door.

maybe finish mounting the brake pedal mounts if i can get material but ill probably wait till the weekend for that as i have dad weld anything that has anything to do with "my life" haha.

how hard would it be to make a simple hood top? im thinking its an easy cut and bend, but am i outta my mind? if so what guage should i use and how do i make it not flimsy other than folding the edges?

I like what you are doing to the Tudor ! The new chop and grill make it look much better . I think you are right about lowering the grill just a few inches .
Hope you'll getaway with it without to much work .

it should be easy enough, to step the bracket down...but..i only have 2 inches MAX before the bottom hose hits the frame cross member

i think i can step it down just about 2 inches, i think that wil make it sit perfect...i hope. if not, what im going to do anyway, is.......the body is SOLID mounted to the frame now, im going to put some bushings between there so that will raise it an inch as well. especially if i use hockey pucks as body mounts,

i just have ot make sure that with the channel job i dont raise the body TOO high as to show the frame

well steve and I finished tacking the rest of the rear quarter up tonight, so the whole body is tacked, and the door posts are pretty much welded and ground smooth. will need to take special care not to warp the rear quarters tomorrow doing the finish welding and weld at different spots, etc. i also cut a slit in the bottom inside of the rear windows and hammered them in a little and welded..so they dont crack when the windows are up...(again...thanks Jr!)

still have to do the tops to the doors, plan on doing that tomorrow as welll.

    SO. tomorrow agenda:
    Door tops
make bracket to mount grill shell,
    finish weld the rear
    if i have time:
    mount brake pedal
cut out the roof fill thats in there.

got everytihng in the mail today for the c4 swap too. so im excited about that.

by this weekend, i plan on putting the motor and ****** in mock up...cutting the firewall to clear the ******, mount the ****** rear...measure for a driveshaft...then pull it and work on the body, and painting the motor, etc. etc. etc. it never ends...haha

man i tell you the HARDEST part about the chop was the verticle body lines in the back...getting those perfect.......that was a *****. especially with a 7 or so inch chop.... if it wasnt for lucky and steve, i would have hit the damn thing with a sledge.

no pics from today, tomorrow after the doors are done it will look better...with the door tops not on....it doesnt nearly look like that much of a chop..with the door tops on...man...

  9. About the hood; Ron Covell answered a reader that he used an Oxigen(sp?) bottle to get the roll, problem being that the cowl is wider than the grill shell. I'm sure that going slow, avoiding kinks, and using all the finnesse the almighty blessed you with should see you through. Good luck, awsome job so far,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,humbly, LEE!

Looks great. The grille is cool, but here's a thought. Check out the the grille on the Monster Garage sedan. Seems it had a really cool sort of gravel guard.

Nice work! About the radiator, maybe you could take it to a radiator shop and get a 90 degree fitting put on in place of the straight lower one, one that points up, might buy you an inch or two up there...

...hmm, but then the hose and fan would probably share the same space... hmmm

Looking forward to more pics, I'm still gathering parts for my '29 A.

well tonight i didnt get much done on the car, but i worked until about 20 minutes ago, and got alot done in the garage..

i finished up tacking and lining up the doors today, driveside is ****ER p***enger side, is going to need a good slam...gotta see what its getting stuck on.

NOW the chop looks good with the door tops on....illl post pics tomorrow too damn tired tonight.

started s***ching the back in too so i can smooth it.

took out all the bracing that steve made a steel cage outta.

BUT more importantly i cleaned out the garage...spotless (which if youve seen my garage spotless is SPOTLESS)

so now im ready for the weekend.

    got a bunch of **** from speedway....wrong **** of course, but...none the less....haha.

dad forgot to drpo off the sawsall he borrowed to or else i would have gotten a lot more done, but....i hate using the angle grinder in close quarters for lopping off stuff, its just much cleaner to use the sawsall.

SO...tomorrow half day at work, goign to pick up some steel stock at mcmaster and mount my grill, brake pedal. then attempt to put the motor in and ****** in so i can setup the mounts for the rear of the ******. and cut out the roof.

i love having a clean garage and a fresh start for the weekend.

Caffine, my mc sits in the same location (slightly forward of yours). I had to do some trimmng of the body subrail to get fluid into it. make sure you can get the top off of the filler area. those hold down straps can require a screw driver/ prybar to get them off/loose. may sure you have access to get the top off.... I use a funnel to fill thru a floor access door

Caff - I have the same brake pedal set-up for my 27T I haven't done it yet, but I'll have to cut the lever arm down some to shorten it. I have cowl steering and that thing is up there next to it. Great work so far.

 I like the stans, rad placement is the key,now you got her.:D
A few years back I noted a chop sunviser that a dude had cut two holes in(one driver side /one p***)(not the norm big holesaw jobs) but cuts in the shape of Ford ovel and fill holes with darktinted pulxy or lex?;) but he could see trafi****es up though,so it was cool, made me think of other hole shapes too that would be nice to us. Hope it's a idea you may like:rolleyes: . Great job.

got the roof somewhat cut out tonight, it was tough to be precise against the rail lip, so...i cut it out loosely about an inch away, and will "finish" cut the rest of the roof tomorrow.

still undecided about what i wanna do..i have no wood, so i do steel? or do i do wood, if i do wood, do i just buy a kit and chop up a almost 400$ kit?

i mean, the roof ribs, im definitly going to get in wood, the side rails up top i think i wanna due in 1x2 tubing, same with the rear window,
for the top door posts i think i can make the wood for that no problem if need be, or just go with 1x2.

also, ripped out all the wiring, brake lines, etc. so now its just a rolling ch***is, and a body.

got all my brake parts in too.

well, played hookey from work today as i really didnt get anything as my father was shorthanded at his shop so i had to go work on "new" cars....nothing special just oil changes and brake jobs, but god how i love old cars, thats all i have to say aboout THAT.

so today, I made mounts/brackets for the grill shell, i gotta think about them a little more, as im not sure if i like them, but not sure there is a better way.

then i mounted the brake setup...i had to notch the square tube cross member to fit the master in there, but i boxed it up extra nice so im pretty sure its about 10x stronger!

did some grinding on some spots where i cut stuff off, and went around and cleaned up from when i cut the roof out.

then i put the trans and the motor in.....bymyself, man i need to make friends! my nut is laying in the driveway i think.

actually, doesnt sound like much now that i typed it....but it damn near took me from 10am to 7pm to get all of the above done.

oh yeah i mocked up my headers too.

the brake is a close fit...but fits perfect.

anyone recommend a ****** cooler? or know where i can get 12" eye to eye shocks for my rear?

tomorrow i have to make a plate for the rear ****** mount....measure a driveshaft...(how to i measure?) im 42" from rear of ******, to center of where the U joint would be for the rear.

tomorrow im also going to chop the rear window inside moulding and hopefully get that ready for mounting im going to box the rear in with steel tube instead of wood.

then, still working on the finish welding and grinding on the body.

Trans cooler, shocks, driveshaft, all in your neighborhood, Just swing by Fast Franks. He has decent shocks all over the place, and I know there is a cooler or two on the shelf.

Give me a call, I might be heading that way tomorrow. I have to visit my machinist (Bulgarian Nick).

I like the grill, huge improvement over the thing that was on there before.
