They are still in business, sort of? They sold the last 25 bodies to someone?
The guy that used to be there sales guy (Jerry) is no longer
representing them. I'm not sure how to get a hold of them?
You might try speed 33, they used to sell them?
The guy that owned speed33, designed both the dearborn, and the 33.
    They possibly can help you?

I talked to the owner of Speed 33 and he told me he had bought the remaining inventory of Dearborn Deuce parts, sheet metal and fixtures and had enough parts to build approximately 20 bodies and when they were gone there would be no more. He took my contact information but I have heard nothing back. That was over a year ago. I built a highboy using one of the early bodies and the quality of the sheet metal and parts was excellent. I owned the car about a year and then it went to Japan. I regret selling it, in my old age it would be the perfect car.

That would be Mark Trostle, he sold off the Dearborn Deuce division and started building 33's in 2007 (?) under the name Speed 33. Exceptional steel cars with retracting tops. Mark is out of the game now, call Phil Davie at Speed 33 and get the low down on those remaining Dearborn bodies.

  6. There was an ebay auction where you put a $4500 deposit on a body. I spoke to a guy in August who said nobody had received a body. I know nothing else about this. I'm another one that wishes he had bought one. :)

Curious what you mean. Because of the retractable top and side gl***?

Do you know what year they started building the Dearborn Deuce? Maybe a prototype?

Given the difficulty of making contact and the apparent total lack of "customer support", I'd be very concerned about making a deposit on anything. I have been thru that process with another well respected company that changed hands and had financial difficulty. Lie after lie after lie.......from the owner no less.
Was able to get my $2700 back because I used Paypal. If he has the bodies available, I'd want to see the one I was buying and exchange money when I picked it up. Its incredibly frustrating when someone has your money and they keep lying or not answering the phone. Company then "went out of business"......which meant they simply made up a new name for the company and still operated at the same location.
I'm not saying thats whats happening here, but I'd be cautious about how you proceed...........

Pretty much, Roll up side gl*** and the panel behind the seat lifts up and the soft top folds into it and then the panel drops down the same as a number of later model convertibles.
This one was my daily driver's roomie in the parking garage during Deuce Days NW in Victoria in 2019.
They left it tucked away in the garage until Sunday. The outside shot wasn't in great light. DB Deuce.jpg DB Deuce side.jpg

I have dealt with Phil, nice guy and very helpful. I bought a gas tank from him a couple years back. Here is his email address.

Has anyone dealt with Phil Davie at American Speed Company in recent times? I first communicated with Phil about a year ago. He sounds like a real good bloke (nice guy) & gave me the history of the "Speed 33" & the "Dearborn Deuce Roadster", most of which I knew already. I have seen both cars here in Australia & spoken to their owners who had no issues with the purchase & import procedures. I paid my deposit on a 32 roadster body nearly a year ago & things went along OK, albeit a little slow. When the body was completed I made the final payment & I haven't been able to contact him by email or his only phone number. I spoke to a guy at a nearby rod shop who said he was a stand up guy who just doesn't answer his phone very often. I would like to believe him but I'm getting a little worried here. Has anyone had any dealings with him or seen him about recently??

I hope you get your body or your money back. It doesn't sound good. How long since you made your final payment?

Someone left them a bad review on Google 5 months ago saying they picked up a partial car, hired a lawyer, and didn't get what they paid for.

Is there anyone local you could have pop in and check on your body?

  25. I'm very curious how this will end. 2 years ago I mentioned to a guy at a car show and he commented how nobody had received a body yet. He sounded like he knew more it than I did.

Probably not well like a lot of these bought out the inventory with big plans and never did anything with it things go. Still unless one actually is in close contact you don't know what the deal is. It's spin the wheel and see where it lands for what ever happened there. Got sick, help that was going to do the work quit, loss the lease on the shop where the work was going to be done, got a job offer that couldn't be turned down that in turn took all the guy's time, Those things I have seen happen to guys I have known who had issues with getting one product or another out. Not always automotive though.

I had a customer stop at my house to pick up a part he had purchased from me thru Paypal. When he arrived he had just picked up his new body from American Speed. Probably 6-8 months ago. I have been trying to purchase a lower under body panel from him for over a year. even drove up to Michigan to the shop. All locked up. People in the building say he is not there very often and works by himself.

    Thanks Bandit Billy.
I hope you are right, mate. He was great to talk with & I really want to resolve this issue. Certainly don't want to blacken someone's character if he's just a poor communicator.
I would be very happy to do a build thread when I get the body. The rolling ch***is is sitting in my shed with a blown 8ba stroker ready to go. T5 box & Jag rear end. Breaks my heart to see it sitting there.
