I was taking the upholstery off the front seat of my newly purchased 1960 Merc monterey ragtop, and there it was, taped to a seat back spring. Kind of neat to get a look into the past of a car. Built may 20th, Model 76A.
I have heard that some GM cars had the build sheet on top of the gas tank! why they put it there is strange unless the line workers did it as a joke!
...My off-topic Corvette had the build sheet tucked up on top of the tank. Found it years after I bought and managed to ease it out carefully intact.
My s55 had one in tatters under the rear seat, and I have another nice one that was under the trim pad on the right door. Where can we decode these things?
Mopars were good for having them under the rear seat to...Sometimes they were above the glove box or under the front floorboard carpet....When I found them I always gave them to the new owners when I sold the car....
just worked on a corvette the other day and the sheet was on top off tank. it was o/t but kinda cool because it was a pilot car and a engineering show car according to the sheet and the writing above the gas tank
Only one I recall having was in a slightly O/T 68 Coronet 500 hardtop. It also had the window sticker in the glovebox. One of the cars I let go without knowing it's value. Nice piece of historical information to find! Side note; I still have the original owner's manual from my '52 Canbridge
In the local GM ***embly Plant those got left taped in place because we ***emblers didn’t take them off. Takes time to pull it loose and put it in the trash can.
That's what I thought, and I am thankful. I have found a lot of them in the last 45 years, some in good shape, some looking like papyri s****s. The last one was in a '63 K10, but it was in a replacement seat that came from a '69 GMC, so no match there
