Don’t want gas tank behind the seat on my 64 F1. What are my options ? Running a 352. Can I use Mech fuel pump with tank mounted behind rear end, under bed, and between the frame rails ?
I put a 70's era Mustang tank under the bed of my 52 F1 and put a marine style filler on the DS rear fender works well.
Did you buy a new one or get it out of the junkyard ? If you bought a new one, then who did you get it from ? Did you have to reroute the exhaust ?
Can you take a pic of what you did with the filler neck ? Are you just running the manual fuel pump ? Thank you
And NO you can't see it from the rear....or side. Its sticks up in the bed just enough to get the cap off.
Don't overthink it, A lot of 70's F 150's had rear (behind the axle) gas tanks. Width shouldn't be an issue but you might have a tight fit front to rear behind the axle. A 73/78 F100/150/250 rear tank is Dimensions: 34-3/4 X 27 X 8-1/8 inches Fills on the left side. For show and tell photos Amazon.com: Gas Fuel Tank 19 Gallon Rear Mount for 73-78 Ford F100 F150 F250 F350 : Automotive Still I think a guy could find the tank and attending pieces at his favorite wrecking yard pretty easy. I'd slide under the F100 with a tape measure and get the measurements of how much room I had then go find a 73/78 with a rear tank to measure. This tank came out of a 74 that I bought a nine inch out of and the guy had the frame sitting there that he was going to haul for scrap with the tank still in it. The great thing about them is that they don't hang down much below the frame rail.
we have mounted the stock tank in the bed behind the cab in a couple of ford trucks. shortened the fuel neck and painted the tank to match the bed.
