Mikey, I saw that door as well. But I was focused on how rust free it is! Solid.

I plan on using these rears for the time being and will continue to look for a wider pair of American Lemans rims for the rear. I have been told they only came in 3 sizes, 4,6,7's. I would like a wider rim to work with the tires. This is a process. Thanks for the input.

As you know those Lemans wheels were pretty popular on the front of the gas cl*** cars of the 60's, have not noticed wider versions, especially on the rear of cars.
Have seen a myriad of other combos pairing with the front Lemans wheels.
Though I've never had any I've always considered them as a possible project wheel.
I get the economics side of the equation in regards to magnesium wheels, thats why all my wheels are aluminum.

According to any ads or catalogs I have ever come across Lemans were only made in 4” and 6” x15”. Also I have never seen any that are tubeless style with valve stem holes on the flat surface. I do have one pair of 6”with the small bead on the edge. D07BEADB-F5F5-4350-829C-5E6FFFB556CB.jpeg F342746C-8CCE-430F-910F-096E50C5A95B.jpeg 0D367F84-5910-4DC1-9220-68630E7F24CF.jpeg

Those are nice wheels Bowie. Thanks for the input. So you are saying I have to run tubes in mine? Do you have a picture of the proper cap for them? Dale

I did read that. These are marked Dan Gurney on the back. I want to find the Romeo Palmides Standards with the 4 holes again. I'll keep looking.

The correct caps for any of the magnesium Americans are metal ones , they were made in both polished aluminum and chromed type. View attachment 5604247 95095F2B-0BD1-4AC2-8D0F-6C303B75C215.jpeg 00C25B92-46DB-4DA8-BD03-0F8F0CCBEED4.jpeg

Yes curbspeed, I am working on this slowly, until I complete my other current build, a replica champ car. Here are pics of the body, the ch***is, and the engne in its current state. More build info in my signature block thread below.

I built this to clown around with mechanical injection on the street. I think it’s in the spirit of your thread- wish I’d kept it, it was a lot of fun

  19. My American Racing catalogs only show 4" and 6". I've owned both in the past. I never seen any evidence of a 7" wide LeMans. The Palemedes "Standard" came in 7" and 8 1/2"

    Very cool!
Could you show the cover, is there a date in this brochure, curious when the Lemans wheel was first introduced.
Any more photos you could post would be appreciated.

Yep, and don’t forget to order your hub covers with nifty templates to drill and tap the comp only versions. 1343B10E-892F-4849-910E-31DA05F6D121.jpeg

I've been to a couple rodeos but never heard of a "Torq-Ette".

Thanks Bowie and 33willys77 for posting this^^^! Good to know. I really want another set of the Standards. Have any to sell guys? I think they would look best with the Lemans rims.

Very cool. I love that your using an olds and 4 spd instead of the usual sbc and auto like every modern budget street rod. It's putting a bit more effort with things like that, that will make your car a standout. Look forward to seeing the finished car.
