my old shop truck, sold it before I finished it. The only thing I've ever sold unfinished ! It got turned into a regular looking pro street Willys truck, I was after a Kustom shop truck kind of look 264530-1297627415-ab7c4a9a79114374cb456635b10fe508.jpeg 264527-1297627171-eaa71b4f326d63c9693dd57f7a901c7b.jpeg

  2. Around 1988 or 89 I was between cars, and one of my tweed and easter egg street rod pals told me about an old coupe in his buddys' basement, two miles from my house(!). A Ford coupe. A 32 Ford coupe. A 32 Ford 3 window coupe. For sale. Back then, a 3W wasn't 'that' special around here. It came with a big long tale about being a California car, belonged to the traveling salesman who invented convenience store "broasted" chicken. Interesting. The poor thing had been "modernized" with a Pinto front end, engine and automatic trans. Still, it had neat features...louvered hood top and sides....suede stock seat and door panels....rumble seat...bobbed rear fenders and 39 tail lights. I drove it home for 7500 bucks. First thing I did was paint the maroon fenders silver like the body---the old man two tone look wasn't for me...and the chrome reverse/baby moons got tossed for 14x6 and 15x7 Appliance wire wheels. Bigs 'n littles, now I was getting somewhere....but that's as far as I got. Poor thing didn't like highway speeds....about 60 was its sweet spot. Booo. Every time I drove it, being a big guy, it was not real comfortable. Those were the days of SBCs and air conditioners, which this had neither. I really wasn't excited about the time and money it was going to cost to get there, so I took it to Pigeon Forge and parked in the Deuce Corral...with a for sale sign. At 11 grand I had some lookers...one guy in particular. He looked hard, and questioned the integrity of the floors. I took the seats out so he could see how good the car was, with almost no rust. I thought he was serious, until he offered 6k...so I sorta told him to get lost. A month later I took it to Corvette Expo and took a no-BS cash offer for 8750---I wanted it gone. Young and dumb fit me back then. I've regretted it since. The only other car I should have kept was a 74 XKE V12 roadster, stick, factory A/C, two tops and wire wheels....with the front end knocked off of it. Easy fix, but expensive parts. But...we gotta look forward and accept the past for what it is.

Everything that passed through my hands was a distraction from what I have never finished to this day.

1936 Dodge 4 door converted to a 2 door phaeton sorta. Back half was 36 Ford. Buddies called it the Fodge.
