The state you live in is important info for this. Fill out your profile.
I bought a Model A Roadster from another state earlier this year and went through the process of getting it street legal and registered in my state. But the process varies widely from state to state.
The body being glass has no relevance really because Ford only stamped the block and frame with the serial. The frame stamping cannot be seen with the body on. I believe you said it has a B block. So what is on the title?

  5. Just don't buy a car from the state of confusion. That's asking for trouble.

Yes, temperatures have plunged into the 50s! Skies are overcast! We're getting occasional rain! Armageddon!!!

    :D:D:D

Seriously, local weather shouldn't factor into this buying decision. I've had many cars shipped in and out of here during "winter" with no issues.

There are mountain passes to be navigated to the east and south of Seattle …

Here is the weather forecast for one for the next
    few days …

I have been transporting year round since 2006.

What is this mountain pass to the south of Seattle that you are concerned about? I can't think of one, unless you're thinking of Grant's Pass on the CA/OR border. As for Snoqualmie Pass to the east, yes, it can get snow. When this happens it affects a stretch of only 10 to 20 miles, which the state keeps clear. Come on, man, is that really going to stop a pro shipper?

To the OP, in my opinion the local weather is an unnecessary concern. (Unless you want to use it as a bargaining chip, since around here it can be tough to find a buyer for an open car during what we call "the rainy season.")

I just bought one off of a fellow hamber. I used the bank wire to transfer funds. I had a buddy that lives in the area (another hamber) go and inspect for me. Leaving Tuesday to go and pick it up.

As if this moment Snoqualmie is closed in both directions due to wrecks so blowing off Jim's worries about bad road conditions this time of year is nonsense. Snoqualmie Pass I-90 | WSDOT Then after you get to Ellensberg you either have to continue on 90 headed east or take 92 down to Hermiston Oregon and catch 82 and then you have Cabbage to worry about.

  13. Some folks relate the National Weather to where
they live and the immediate surrounding area …

They don’t factor in what it takes to get to where
the pick up or drop off locations are …

I loaded up this beautiful 1917 Model T Speedster
yesterday in Concord, California - a five year build
that is bound for Minnesota ….

The first major winter storm just dumped on
the mountain pass between Sacramento & Reno.

I timed my trip east to be behind that storm.

I leave Sacramento, California this morning
for Albany, Minnesota - the dark blue is the route
    I quoted three weeks ago:

    C17F45F7-AFDA-4BE2-8FBD-EF1E2E5E7AE1.jpeg

Because of winter weather driving conditions
this is the route I will be taking:

    9D2F6934-25B7-4146-9484-C9A505EB724B.jpeg

From Minnesota I continue to Maryland to drop
off a 1908 Reo Project Roller - winter weather
    driving conditions will also determine
    the route I take.

I have a tentative transport from Tennessee to
California once I drop in Maryland.

After that - my transport availability will be
limited to the West Coast and cross country
via I-40 and I-10 as winter weather driving
    conditions allow ….

I used to look at the local weather report when I was an avid golfer. Now this time of year I look at it for my available time to get hay for the horses, and how much I’ll need, so I don’t have to haul wet bales home.
    Golf was easier;)

I'd have to think that before we get in a big go around over passes or routes we had best figure out where that 1200 miles away from Gig Harbor actually is. Remembering that in Jan 1969 when I had to drive to Fort Hood Texas I took the long route down though Oregon, cali, Vegas and across to Ft Hood driving 570 miles out of my way to avoid the passes that I would have had to drive on going the other way. That was about 15 dollars worth of gas difference to avoid a thousand miles of ice and snow though.
The ever changing Snoqualmie pass is sloppy wet with it raining like a cow pissing on a flat rock right now but will turn nasty if it freezes. Screenshot (613).png

    Well...
    After all that.
I recused myself from the purchase of the car in Gig Harbor. He kept a sizable deposit as was his right to do so as I cheesed out. I found the perfect roadster 10 miles from my home!:)
I am now the caretaker of this most perfect relic! Lots to learn!

I've only bought one car from out of state (40 Ford Coupe from CA) and before I sent the money I had the owner send me a picture of the Vin numbers stamped in the frame and a picture of the title with matching numbers. When the car got here I took it to the local sheriff and the re titling process went smooth.

Nice. Consider the deposit you lost was saved from shipping the other one 1200 miles, plus you were able to lay eyes on this one and make the deal.

I certainly wouldn't send any unsecured form of payment like a money order, cashiers check, or one of the payment apps that are out there. Personally I'd probably go there to check it out in person and arrange payment that way, but I can understand if the time/distance factor makes that tough. Is there anyone in the area that can sort of be your "boots on the ground" and handle that end for you? There's just too many scams out there IMO to risk buying something without a set of eyes on it. If you need a shipping recommendation since it doesn't sound like you're heading out there, look into these guys https://www.a1autotransport.com/ I've used them to ship between states a few times and they've been great.
