Okay let’s try this again. It’s no surprise that we all have projects in different stages of development , build threads to start, pictures to share, you get the idea. My current project is not hot rod related so I won’t share that here. But I’m curious, what approach are you guys and gals taking with your hot rod project/projects this next year? Please share your thoughts, details, etc. HAMB appropriate content only please.
I can sum it up kinda keepin it simple....anything as long as your having some fun , building , on the hunt , artistic aspects...enjoying the finished car...are they ever really finished..and enjoying the wonderful posts and threads and all you ugly hoodlums on what i call a second home..The Hamb...HAPPY HOTROD NEW YEAR
I've learned when it comes to the project cars...I shouldn't make a yearly plan, because I won't stick to it anyway. Lol That being said, I got a couple that should be road worth over the coming year. (Unless I get sidetracked) Overall the plan is to keep having fun with these old things and not stress. Happy New Year everyone.
I was hoping to finish the rebuild of the hemi and get the doors rebuilt on the modelA. Also I wanted to finish the mock up of the Model T roadster and tear it down and box the frame. We will have to see how much money is left after paying the bills. Those trinkets get spendy.
That, I don't have to worry about. No more projects for me! Way too much frustration with shipping costs, poorly made parts or no parts availability at all. So, I'll just enjoy driving and maintaining the two that I have.
I posted my new purchase on the 2023 thread. https://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/new-projects-in-2023.1281964/
I have to compartmentalize. I have 4 projects running right now. I start with the easiest and work backwards. Sort of a debt snowball for hot rods. Ramsey followers will get the connection.
Finish the Vintage Air AC install. Took a break over the holidays so Momma could buy Christmas gifts. After that, start on fixing the few rust spots and few dents so it might get paint this year. Got a major bathroom remodel in the way first though.
I keep a list for each of my cars, Things that need fixed, appearance items, and mods Every winter I do some of each list to keep on improving I try to do at least one improvement on each car. When all my lists are complete I’m done ✅
My plan for this year is to finish my OT daily driver C10 , finish my blown 57 Chevy 150 which only needs interior but somehow I got sidetracked on my 59 vette ex racecar that needs way more work but it seems to have overtaken common sense
Maintain the two I have, and drive the wheels off of them. The goal is to drive the pair of them 10,000 miles total. We will see how I did at the end of the year. Each have a few small things that probably should be done to be ready to drive them that much.
Finish my '36. It's been going on for 12 years and enough is enough. I want to drive it before I die......
New Year's Eve from this starting point... to today's crazy pandemic... what a ride! Hello, My wife and I have been together since 1966 and we loved our families. Although, we were just satisfied if we were alone, doing our own thing. Then and even 50 plus years later in these hectic pandemic times we have adapted well. We still continue to be connected to our extended families, but have learned to rely on ourselves for continued satisfaction of our simple lifestyle. Those 20 something years were pretty cool. Physically active, the world was open to us for any adventure or exploration and we were quite satisfied with our struggling years. It was a difficult time, but being together to face the music was a solid front, to head off some catastrophic directions. Some of our old friends were on their way to large portfolios plus properties for themselves and their respective families. But, we were just happy being together and that caused some concern for some of our friends. Rent was inexpensive, our wants were low and achievable. But, for some of our friends, our cozy apartment was not to their tastes. The rock music playing through some large b*** speakers and metal tweeters did a number on the small apartment, but at the time, it was what everyone in our area was doing. We had a 65 El Camino and a 62 Corvair. What more could we want? Simple tastes and togetherness in ideas and lifestyle has played well throughout all of our lives. New Year’s Eve took on a new meaning… a party or two if we wanted in the area, and then a nice safe environment to accept the challenge of our society at the time. At the time in the beginning, through all of this time to the present, pandemic years, it is memories we created and enjoyed, not material things… except that daily transportation for just about everything was a lot nicer in a 327 powered 1940 Ford Sedan Delivery.. Although walking to our destination down the block was a lot nicer than driving, one late New Year's Eve ... Jnaki But, a Candy Apple 1940 Ford Sedan is still front and center on our current “BUY” list. There is room in the garage and my wife’s station wagon is 10 years old… so… discussions and good reasons for the expenditure has to be rock solid… or she could get a new station wagon and I would drive the 40 sedan! Now, there is a thought. My little ideas turn into bigger ideas and what the #$%#... who wouldn’t want a cool hot rod to cruise to the beach? Our granddaughter would love this car, to be carted around, for the senior cl*** activities one last time… arriving in a cool Candy Apple 40 Ford Sedan with her own private driver, sure beats a limo (been there, done that)… YRMV
My approach is: -One car at a time -Make and maintain a list -Two hours a night -Just keep going I try to keep it as simple as possible and it works fairly well for me. I'm hoping to ****on up 2022's project by February or March, then on to the next one. ironandsteele.com
Everything on hold, house for sale and moving after 33 yrs , a few acres of what to keep, what to move, and realising the body doesn’t want to play as hard as previous years. Reset in a new place, setup another shed(the last and best I’ve had) and hopefully get back to the projects. Was a **** 22, here’s hoping 23 will bring all the body repairs back to a functioning speed.
