Alright need a little help, who’s got a solid Street Rodder collection from the late 90’s? I’m searching for a specific Dave Bell illustration of my Dad’s ‘34 Roadster (my dad lost his copy of the magazine long ago and has been searching for a replacement ever since) I’m fairly certain it’s from ‘97, but could have been late ‘96 or early ‘98. If my memory serves me right he was the bigger drawing at the bottom of the page, ‘34 roadster with a blown 392, and the driver looks like Tom Selleck. Probably says “Hot Heads” somewhere, and maybe has a saguaro cactus in the background. I’d love to purchase the magazine if anyone has one they’d be willing to part with, but I’d be just as happy with a scan of the artwork to get printed/framed. Thanks in advance! -Neil
Neil, I should have that issue. It's warm, but rainy here, good day for a search thru the archives. No promises, Carp.
If this is correct you missed it by a year or 3 , February 2000. Scanner picked today to quit working so took these with cell phone, I'll message you the full size versions.
Ha! Oh man thank you so much!! That would definitely explain why I could never find it in any of the ‘97 street rodders I came across. I swear my dad said it was in an issue while he still owned Hot Heads but it was sold to the Walker’s in ‘98 (but that conversation was a long time ago). That just made my day! Thanks again!
Tat: In the 70's and 80's I had several cars featured in Street Rodder, Hot Rod And Rod Action and over the years I managed to lose some of them. When I decided I needed them for my archives/museum I managed to source all of them on E-Bay at very reasonable prices. Also they were in excellent condition and I managed to source them without someones mailing label n the front. I checked E-Bay and there are several issues of the magazine you are looking for at various prices and condition.
I know I only wish I had thought of it a month ago ha! I’ve searched for that picture/ issue for years without luck, then I read in someone’s post about having to dig out their Street Rodder collection and the light bulb went on. Just another reason why the HAMB is awesome! That hadn’t even dawned on me to check eBay, thank you for the heads up! And that’s awesome I’m glad you were able to get back all your featured issues, quite the trophy for car builder.
