Here’s a couple more…. A standard bore, standard crank 327 (those Powerpak heads are for the ‘57 283, the 327 heads are upstairs). And a runner 401 nailhead (heads are buried on the bench above it).

Thanks! I have an 833 4 speed going behind it. On a side note, I hope you have a raft or boat Bob. We got lots of rain real quick. Hope you're staying dry up there.

  5. a 1955, 287 cu in Pontiac. Was under a buddy's work bench for over 40 years. He bouoght it with the promise it was a fresh rebuild. After treating it with mucho Marvel Mystery oil. I fired it up...smoked and had blow by but hit on all 8. I kept working with it and now it starts easily [even with the old AFB,not even opened up] runs great with no smoke or blow by and "fair" oil pressure. 34garage6_22.jpg

I came up with a flathead that turned out to be a good one and a 52 Chrysler Hemi that turned out to be too pricey to build.

You need to build a 3-bay garage next to the current one.

I'll come up. Let's get some cars built!

We got 8.5" between Friday and yesterday. Thankfully, we're up on a bluff so the water runs off the cliff at the end of our property to the pasture below. I would sure like to go down to the bottom and video the water going over the edge though. Did get some in the shop, but not much. Amazing, the Cosumnes River totally overwhelmed good old Hwy 99.

Same thing happened with the Olds at the start of the thread, every time I start it, it seems to run better! No blowby, no smoke, good, even compression. But, it has a little knock when you hold the RPM up a little, around 1500-2000. Don't know what that is but I'll find out.
Love those old Pontiacs with the water necks on each head.

    Howza all-

I have a pair of flatheads I scored from work. A 1942 Merc and a 1934 truck engine that is complete and was just dropped off.

I have way too many 302 GMC cranks and heads I’ll never use. Not as many blocks as I once had but enough for my life time and my sons. All under cabinets and shelves in my garage. Some day the scrap metal man will need to be payed to take it all away..
If I don’t build them I’m sure he will sell the 2 12 ports.

    Engines engines.
    I love engines.
If I couldn't build a car, I'd at least build and detail an old engine (or engines) just to have, look at and run.

    Ugly right now.

Planned to go in my Hodgepodge Dodge Roadster.

Just about ready to mount it on a stand, test run and tune with a single four-barrel. Make some modifications and do some detailing. Then get intimate with the 6x2.

A Mopar wedge with six twos, that’s a rare combination.

Somehow that air cleaner and that trans don’t go together. Lol

That’s some cool stuff Scotty. Is that old Hemi a new addition?

322 Nailhead 2x4 for my 23-25 T-Roadster, Red Ram for my A Pheaton, Blown Caddy for my 34 Sedan, planning a 380+ cu.in. W-motor for my 62 Impala drag car, and a 291 Desoto for my 41 Desoto Custom. We'll see how many I get done. Among many others.

    20221119_120612.jpg 8BA is for my 29 A Coupe

  18. I have a bunch of post-stovebolt Chevy 6's waiting their turn in the workshop. I didn't really need them, but when they are offered to you for peanuts (they are rare down here), you gotta take them, and I'm letting them "mature" for a while.

The bangers are leftovers from A projects, their locked solid but I can't bring myself to part with them. I bought the poly motor because of the pushbutton trans. And one of the 3-330 Desoto's will get a home in my 41 Business Coupe some day

I’m the guy in the corner of the HS gym shower with his back to you after a workout.
    All I have is a plane jane 218 L6 and a 302 Ford.
But I have more room for other junk…er, stuff in the shops than some!

Well, we’ll just have to fix that. I’ll keep an eye out for some interesting, heavy, crusty, junk for you! Can’t let shop space go unused.

Great thread, @bchctybob. Here's the backup 'banger for my roadster. Rebuilt at Berkeley Automotive Center in the '40s, it has very few (if any) miles on it.
