    Blew the front suspension apart for powder coating and put the second coat of paint on the frame.

  7. Finished the back fenders, convinced the rear pan to fit, and installed the bumper irons and bumper on our '47. Now it looks like the bumper guard lights and tailpipes want to occupy the same place.

    It is a little cold today I decided to give the sanding a rest and put together my dash for the model a sedan. I used leftover gauges and it turned out ok.

    Um....I don't think that'll happen. It's just going to be for bracket racing, and actually more so I can check the boxes "Own a FED" and "Build a FED".

    But yeah, a Hemi of any sort would be some nice eye candy.

    Pulled transmission to replace the clutch. Naturally there is also a ton of additional restoration & repairs of things other than just a clutch replacement. Nothing like opening a can of worms!

    Trans after the 1st & 2nd round of cleaning:

    With three different vehicles to finish, I am trying to do a little on each one. I rebuilt a set of pedals for my '40 pickup, and bolted them in today. That has been holding me up from installing the cab, as it's a struggle to install them with the cab in place. IMG_9888.JPG IMG_7107.JPG

    Well, I feel less significant than the rest of my HAMB bro's, in that all I've gotten done over the past 2 weeks is:
    1. Installed the new F150 discs and brackets/calipers from GM;
    2. Caught a bad cold which morphed into pneumonia;
    3. Gathered the dual master cyl. and residual valves/prop valve for the new 3/16" lines;
    4. Obtained a brake tube straightener (16 steel wheels in a frame!)
    5. Laid out the bracket for adapting dual cyl. to '55 passenger swing pedal ass'y;
    6. Began planning and straightening 3/16" tubing and fittings for a 'sanitary install'.
    7. Eyed my 354" Chrysler Hemi for installation upon removal of 350 Chev in said '55 F100. (at Last!)

  23. Continued to rewire my car today. Slowly wire by wire I am progressing and I have a discovered a very important fact...there is a reason I DID NOT become a sparky in the Air Force. I am a mechanic and not a wiring wiz at all. But hey, it is getting done and I can 't wait to get to welding!!!!!!!!!!

    Almost 40 years ago a friend and his wife trimmed the interior of my 38 Chevy. He didn't do the visors:( I've had them in a box for over 40 years. I did some trading with @stanlow69 and now for the first time in over 50 years at least, there are visors (and my wife is happy about it too:) IMG_4955.JPG

    Drove both my running old cars this weekend for a total of about 300 miles different days back and forth to a weekend chop class taught by Joel Davis @Pinstriper40. Great class and I would encourage anyone to go that would like some insight into chopping a car as well as an opportunity to hang out and work with other custom car guys.

    Well this is quite the design flaw on my part. When I mocked this thing up to set the drivetrain in place I used a GM HEI distributor and had enough clearance to slip it in and out. So the plan has been to run a Accel dual point with a tach drive. But that was not in the plan during mock up. So this weekend I worked on switching out the distributor with only one problem, it won't fit !
    I raised the rear of the motor up and down and still no go. You can take two screws out of the housing and the top half of the distributor comes off with the points in that part. That is not to bad but you have to make sure you have the two halves keyed right when assembling them.
    So I can live with that , now to install the cap ( which is for a 66 V-8 Chrysler ) With the cap on the next issue is the rear wire is jammed against the firewall ( wheelbarrow tub ) So for the time being I will put my stock distributor back in as I smoke over my options . Which really sucks ! Plus I got some new made in the USA 10 inch IMG_0839.JPG IMG_0773.JPG wheels from US Wheel for like $65.00 each IMG_0832.JPG IMG_0828.JPG

  29. I sit and stared at this for far to long trying to figure out a bulkhead, needs to be removable for service which creates the problem of what to attach it to.
