    Marty, I don't have any good pictures from way back when in the injected dirt cars, however what we did for throttle linkage might work for you. Briefly, if the engine doesn't rock, solid mounted, we ran a section of tubing sized to fit over the throttle shaft on the right bank, that had a slit cut along one side about a half inch long. Then a split collar matched to the od of the tube locked it on the throttle shaft.

    The tube then extended back thru the firewall and a heim joint supported from a crossmember in the roll cage. Just behind this was a clamp on arm, made from another split collar with an arm welded on. It was located just above (7-8 inches) the throttle pedal, so a short link up made it operate.

    In your car, you could mount the extension on the left bank throttle shaft, and maybe use a spherical bearing in a flanged housing bolted to your firewall.

    If the engine can move, it could still work, just insert a small u-joint between the engine and firewall in the extension.

    Dave, My friend, Lonnie Gilbertson came to see me yesterday, and he came up with what could be the solution. Lonnie is a long time quality car builder (won the AMBR twice) and a very good problem solver. Thanks for the sound advice, there will be some engine movement.

    Neil, Lonnie and I have been working together for nearly 25 years, and we both have different specialties, that work well in our projects. He came up with the idea of a plate that attaches to the screws that mount the stacks, with a bell crank pivot. I had purchased some bell cranks from Speedway, and once I get some more 3/16 rod ends, it should work slick, I didn't want to use a cable.

    I an earlier post, I mentioned fabricating a panel to cover the large slot in the firewall required to get the Mag in and out. I finished the cutout today and whipped up an aluminum cover, that will be retained with 6 - 10-32 screws, and plan on punching 4 louvers, to add a little eye appeal, along with ventilating the trapped air in that area.     Here is the cover, louvered and mounted. Since I have Covid, and can't go anywhere, I was able stay busy and get the result I wanted for the throttle linkage. Other than the temporary link ( that looks like junk) it works great. My goal was to set it up, so where the linkage passes through the firewall, it will also work with a set of carburetors.     Sorry about the Covid. I had it at the beginning of May. Not real sick but the recovery is very slow. My get up and go got up and went!

    I did a little work on this project today. A while back I had some 3/8" steel doughnuts water jet cut, for the flanges on the headers. Since one of the tracks I plan to run, (Portland International Raceway) requires mufflers, and friend, HAMB Member @Alan Davis gave me some Supertraps, it was time to get them mounted. When mating a flange to the middle of a bend, it is never round or even the same size. So, I measured both sides, 90 degrees apart, and took the happy medium for the dimension to machine the inside diameters. Now, I need to drill the bolt patterns in both and weld them on. Then it's off to Finish Line Coatings, for the final product. It's good to be back to work, thanks to those who follow.     I am starting the new year out working on my own stuff, primarily the '29. I finished last year on Sat, getting a long (time frame) project done and out the door. I posted pictures on 2 of my other threads about this unique Roadster. It was built in Portland in the early 50's and was featured in Hot Rod in the Nov. 55 issue. The car is a rare combination of parts, starting with a 23 Fiat body, hot flathead and Kinmonts on all 4 corners. The lucky part was, all of the sheet metal was there and in decent shape, I had the build a new frame, and get all the pieces lined up.

    Now that my customer work is on hiatus, I have been organizing the shop and am back on 2 of my projects, the 29 and my 40 pickup. I have been putting off finishing the steering shaft support, but it needed to be done before disassembly. Drilling and installing threaded bungs in the frame, while on your back, in a crowded area, is not a lot of fun, but I got it done today. One thing that helped a lot was a headlamp given to me by a friend over a year ago. I have found this to be most handy, as being a lighted headband, it gives plenty of light right where you are looking. After transfer punching, drilling and knocking in the insert, it was simple to install the second one. Every time I try to do both at the same time, I have trouble maintaining the centers. The inserts will be welded once the chassis is apart. I made the inserts by cutting the head off a bolt, and locking on 2 raw steel nuts, stick it in a drill, turn on the belt sander, and grind to the size, while the drill is spinning. Now it's back to finishing the firewall to floor, and on to the roll bar mtg.

    We had planned to undercoat the cab, and inside to fenders on the '40 today, but wind and rain from the south, changed our minds. The big shop door, faces south, and we didn't want to have problems, but it looks good for next Sat. We are using a Raptor coating kit, that is black and rubberized. The cab will be hung from the ceiling using a chain and a spreader bar. Also, my old race partner sent me this photo that he took when we were racing at Fremont, Ca. in 1988. It's in the staging lanes, and I am talking to veteran Top Fuel racer Sammy Hale, his ride, (the Champion Speed Shop) is right behind ours, and the Charlie's Business Coupe, Fiat is behind us.
