This one is going to be like arse orifices for opinions, everybody's gonna have one. Let's just get an idea of what most of us consider the top hot rod song--like most bikers probably think of "Born to be Wild". I'm old and remember when Chuck Berry brought out "No Money Down"-buys a new Caddy with "4 carburetors & 2 straight exhausts, burnin' aviation fuel no matter what the cost". Of course "409", "Little ole' Lady from Pasadena" and on an on. So, chime in-- Maybe the ultimate one hasn't been written yet.

I did, most mentioned lyrics of a single tune or a movie, or a recommended anthem. Not for the top song of all time as recognized by the majority of the group.
What one's favorite is may have a lot more to do with your age and what was on the radio at the time. I don't have a real favorite as all of the "car songs" from the 60's were fun to listen to when you were cruising around listening to that am radio.
Sorry, no good answer for this. There is no consensus for the top hot rod song. Too many choices and you said it yourself, lots of opinions. You might be able to narrow it down to the top 100. Maybe.
Not a top song but a personal top choice is "Saturday Night Drag Race" by Scatman Crothers. Love them big strokers.
Not a lot of people know this. The top hot rod song is one that I wrote. A one. And a two. And a 15426378... Well... It's a 1929 Model A Roadster hot rod Ford And all the parts that I built 'er with are Lincoln or Ford by name She's got a chromed out '33 Ford grill In front of a bored out '58 430 Lincoln mill And it's all sittin' on a 1932 Ford frame And if I never built a hot rod roadster it'd be a shame Well now, the windshield's cut down, split-V, swept back Tuck 'n' roll seats and the paint is shiny black And the vintage Ford steel wheels give her old-time hot rod style And the black-wall Firestones get me down the road mile after mile And with the stick-shift tranny in overdrive And a half-dozen carbs open up and she comes alive She always does at least 150 in the flyin' mile And it didn't take me a whole lot o' money to build Just took a little while
Wait a minute, those numbers are the firing order for a Chrysler or Chevy. But, I guess 15426378 doesn’t rime with A 1 and a two.
Green Onions by Booker T and the MG's ... who does not think of Hot Rods when that song is played? if you can listen to this song sitting perfectly still call the coroner to come get you.
Awesome, Mr. @Marty Strode Good catch. Thanks. LOL I hadn't given it any thought. Fixed it. Funny thing, for as long as I can remember, my dad had been saying, "I'm gonna give ya the old 18436572"... as a somewhat humorous way to say, "I'm gonna tan your ass." And that was looooong before I knew those numbers as being a firing order. So it kind of sticks with me.
