Technical Ford Shifter ID

    Can anyone ID this shifter for me....Ford Toploader? 4 speed? Thanks for any help..

    IIRC the factory Ford toplader shifters had a reverse lockout release below the shift knob.

    Not a Ford guy but it appears the early 60's Fords used the "T" style for reverse lockout but some of the later 60's did not use it.

  7. Four-speed with a three-speed lever....

    Ford used the same shifter ***embly for both the T10 and Toploader, just switched the trans levers and shift rods for the specific trans use. All Ford-built four-speed shifters had a reverse lock-out, the early ones used the 'T' handle, the later ones a sliding knob.

    There were also three distinct mounting brackets. Front mount for the '63-65 Falcon/comet, mid-mount for Fairlanes and some full-size, and rear mount for the Mustang and some full-size. The one pictured is a rear mount.
