It was only started a couple times in the last 22 years. We didn’t try to turn it when I was there, but once it gets home here I’lol pull plugs soak a few days and go from there. Have a replacement available to me if needed.
Received my copy of classic n custom today. The Buick was cover and the small feature had some vague info on the car.
Some where the is an article on Joe Wilhem (or just one pic) and there is a pic of the Buick in primmer. It`s an outside picture behind his shop with other cars as well. Joe is originally from Grand Island Nebraska I believe. I know I saw it somewhere years ago. Have no idea what magazine as I have over 6000.
Congrats @50bomb...it'll be nice to get some open air in its veins again...have fun with it and share lots of pics...even though the restorations will I suspect be relatively minor as it was pretty well looked after it seems...
The idea is to get it running, put wide whites and side pipes as it did in early 80’s and preserve it to be a true survivor
Congrats to you! It's clear it's in good hands and wonderful that both cars are together. It alllmoossstttt didn't happen cuz it was reaaaaaaaaallll close to landing in a garage in Arkansas.... Here's a pic I took of it at the Hangin' Dice Nat in '87.
The Hot Rod Custom Cars magazine @stanlow69 posted is the one I have and remember it from. Congrats on getting such a great looking car!
@50bomb You are the envy of a lot of custom guys and gals. I saw that for sale ad. Great price, I knew it wouldn't last long. Glad you got it, and are a HAMBer! Hats off to @stanlow69 and others pointing you in the right direction for past magazine articles.
Thanks! Couldn’t resist the car and the price. Although it’s in non running condition and needs some tlc. Piece of cake! I’ll have it on the road ready to cruise in no time.
Had trouble finding a pic of it. I know I have a couple books that has picture`s of it. It won the best Roadster at the Okland Roadster show.
yup, the wild dream, I had a chance to buy it a couple of years ago and passed on it. It is now owned by Galpin in Van Nuys Calif. the wild dream won the Americas most beautiful roadster award in 1968
Here’s a picture that I took of the Buick at the Kkoa last pass show in Des Moines in the late eighties
