Does anyone have a lead on the Dayton motor that Grainger used to sell? The link on page 2 of the sticky is dead!

Look on McMaster Carr as well, they usually have a good selection of anything.

Glad this popped up. It's been on my to-order list for a while, now. Just placed my order with Grainger - they seem to have the best price.

Thanks everyone! Just ordered it from Amazon. About $10 more than Grainger but being a Californian, I guess that's my luxury tax!

After scrutinizing both the Amazon and Grainger websites, it's definitely the same motor but the Amazon site lists dimensions as 8.7 x 8.9 x 6.4 inches (way too big) whereas, the Grainger site lists it having a 3-7/8" length (the right size). Hoping that's just a screwup on Amazons part. The nice thing is it's super easy to return an item to Amazon!

I think Amazon might list the packaging size

The Stig's update is correct, so I updated the link in the "Sticky" The older link was working two weeks ago, anytime a link goes dead let me know so I can do an update.

Well, so much for that. Amazon just cancelled my order!! No explanation. Trying to contact them is an exercise in futility. Does anyone know why no company will ship that motor to California?
I do have friends in Texas but I don't want to put them in an illegal situation by having Amazon ship to them and then them ship to me. I may just have to forego heat/defrost altogether!

What about the Walmart.com one? I typed in the only California zip I know (90210) and it gave me a shipping quote.

I bought the one on my '53 from them a couple years ago.

Maybe this is an option...I went in totally different direction. Wanted to eliminate the heater stuff under the hood. Installed a heater/defroster unit from, i think 1965 or so F100 truck. Fit under the dash perfectly. Only negative is it severely limits the glove box size and shape. This unit only uses inside air and the motor is under the dash instead of outside. Here is a couple pics. You can search for 1065 ford f100 heater and see the unit. P1170989.JPG P1170990.JPG

Like all the other sites 'banned in California'.

Very nice! Wish I would've known about this a year ago. I have a question. What's the pull knob in the corner under the dash for? Right air duct?

I do have an option. A friend is coming to visit from Texas on the 22nd. I'm gonna see if Amazon will ship to her house and maybe she can stuff it in her suitcase on the flight over. Hopefully, TSA won't get in a tizzy over it!

The knob you see is for the air duct. I found out that i needed fresh air on hot days so put the air ducts in on both sides. I just found a rubber plumbing seal to plug up the original blower air intake under the hood.
