Something that started in 1997 with two buddies tired of the usual trailer queen shows out there... Hard to believe the baby is all growns up! I hope to meet lots of HAMBrs there this year, as I don't attend every show anymore. Here's an article Hot Rod magazine wrote about us after the 3rd show in 1999. I just found it and scanned just for this anniversary! Congrats Kirk on keeping a great thing going for 10 killer years!
That's cool Jay! It's been a crazy adventure, that's for sure. I need to write down all the stories one of these days. See ya Saturday. Stick around for the awards!
Check out Kirks sparkle helmet in that mock up shot! We were sitting on his A ch***is when he was building up a Tudor. That last shot is us leaning on my old Lincoln Cosmo in front of his house. MAN, we were ***Y!!
That's not what you two were doing "after" the photo was taken...at least that's what Kirk told me. Seems he's tried to make that move on lots of unsuspecting fellas, but you're the only one to fall for it to date. "Hey, let's take a picture on my ch***is. We can act like we're driving it. No, scoot back closer to me. There, that's it." Sorry...congrats Kirk. Wish I were coming up for BPX!
That's funny. I can't even call it a car yet. I'll be piloting the U-Haul Special. Featues include: noisy roll-up door, squeeky brakes, smoking tailpipe, cargo area filled to the brim with show supplies, broken AM radio and various body damage. It's gonna be sweet!
I remember seeing a clip on one of the Car shows on(the former)TNN. might have been Speedvision. That was in 99-00? I think.
BP 99...Steve Sellars backing his Ford (by accident) into his own giant ball of flame and setting the interior on fire...priceless! I was going to give it a miss this year, now I think I'll make the trek! Jay, Kirk, thanks for the memories! Ted
Congrat's on 10 years... that's awesome! Motivation, dedication, perseverance and hardwork always pays off, great job and cool article. Kirk and Jay, we'll be seeing yea there bright and early my friends best wishes, CAB
MY first show was '98. Never thought it would be what it is today. Very fun, thanks so much for those that put this all together!
10 shows, this will be my 8th, but my car only made it to 3. My car is jealous of me. I'm thinkin of bringin a bicycle to get around easier. What fun.
i only ever missed 1 billetproof since 1998,and i sent my car with someone else, and coincidentally that was the only year i ever got a BP award...THE JIVE BOMBER!!! it's been a long wierd trip and this is the show i call my home, the show that really lowered the standards for car shows!!! i look forwierd to seeing everyone tomorrow, look for me in the roadster that says ol' #10....
