Coupster???? I have a chance to buy my brothers 29 sport coupe, all apart, 2 frames , most parts, no top frame or material, engine or trans, 8" rearend, new dropped axle kit. I have seen the way some hammers put a folding windshield on. I am wondering where they got the right pieces and what years they used? Also what has to be done to the doors. Any incite and ideas greatly appreciated! Big project, hope I'm up for it. Thanks Ron

  2. Are you asking about turning it into a faux roadster? If so you may get some "insight".

Sorry! I want to leave the top off, and finish the doors and around behind the seat. Thanks Ron

  4. You will have to fab door tops as well as the area behind the seat. Many folks leave the posts which just shows it was a Sport Coupe to begin with, thats the easy way out. I have seen some better ones that used a roadster cowl or modified the stock cowl to accept roadster posts.

You may want to use the word "coupester" in your searches. They kinda got started being called this 20ish years ago on here.

Thanks all! I know it won't look as good as a roaster, (specially with my talent), I just want to make it look as good as possible. I have seen a few coupsters, and I like the look. Ron

Personally, I'd keep it as a Sports Coupe, chopped. I've seen several and I think they look cool, with their own unique thing goin' on.

Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but I dig it:

I agree a chopped Sport Coupe can look bad ass.....like Stogy's, the Eskimo Pie (below) & others. I also think a "Coupster", done right, can also be made to have a killer look. Not an answer to your "how to" question......just an example of both.

Here is my project. I used a 34 chopped windshield and recontoured the cowl to match. The doors are cut at the body-line with a rolled top. The dash is from a 40 pickup under the Model A top. I really like the cut-down sport coupe with its long doors to get a fat old fart in easily.
