  1. At that asking price he won't have to worry about memories. He'll be staring at 'em face to face every time he goes in the shop...

I want to know where everyone is finding these running driving reliable cool old cars that look killer for dirt cheap. Sad to say it but $15,000 isn’t a lot of money anymore. I think he’s right there on the price as well.

I think he is in the ball park for it. Might be on the high end, but not far off. When you look at what rough tri five chevy 4 door brings now its hard to beat getting a decent running and driving cl***ic for under 20k anymore.

and if he scores the 68 C10 I might have some stuff left over from my recent resto. Ive sold alot off already but got a few things still floating.

I think part of my bias is that I only buy cars that I think are a smoking deal. But. Silas actually watches the actual market more than I do anymore. So, I guess we will see what a 4-door 59 Edsel is actually worth when it sells. :D

I p***ed up a nice looking '59 2-door a few years ago at $8000. It was complete with a 6 and a 3-speed, close to a sister car to my Ford. At $5000 I would have taken it.

I’m terrible at pricing a vehicle for sale. Never learned the art of “start high”. I always asked for what I thought I’d pay. After I spoke with a few folks, I realized all the dollars I’d p***ed on.
Good thing Silas is starting off on the right foot early!

I agree 100 percent. I do the same. Can’t buy it unless it’s a deal.

he’ll be fine on it. Someone will come along and have to have it. Just remind him it’s pre tax season. That slows everything down for me. Spring is around the corner.

I like 4-door cars myself. But not everyone does, so it may not be a hot commodity. I would have taken a nice 4-door Ford, but this one came along.

I get the Lark idea, they are neat, specially with an R-2 drive train. Oh, and ...HAPPY BIRTHDAY

Ya, I tell you, growing up, would hardly take a look a a 4 door. You couldn’t give me one when I was Silas’s age. Now? Well times change;)

I liked them since they went cheap. I had a '66 Caprice with a 396 in it, man did that car fly for $75. The engine looked like it sat in a grease pit, I drove it for the 1st time in a torrential rain storm, expecting it to take a dump on me, never missed a beat.

Yea, I’m with you on the four door deal. There was a time that I only saw a four door as a parts car. Then, about 15 years ago, I tripped across a very nice original paint 64 Impala four door that still had plastic over the perfect original seat covers for $2000. It was a grandma car deluxe complete with the 230 six and three on the tree. I put new tires on it, cleaned it up a little, swapped the dog dish hubcaps back on it and had a blast driving it all over. My wife even enjoyed taking my boys to school in it regularly when the boys were in early grade school. Anyway, pretty sure that is the car that changed my perspective some. Oh, then there is this 50 Buick that I recently fell into with a similar story that is also a blast to drive for cheap. :D

Years back I needed an engine and picked up a '65 Biscayne 4-door. Then I junked the leftovers. It was a really nice car aside from minor rust. I still kick myself for letting it go.

  14. I’m too poor to p*** on a four door. At this point, I’d happily drive one. I would guess that they made more four doors than two doors back in the day?

There will come a day when Silas can look back and say, I wish I had never sold "Pinky", but we have all been trough those learning periods in our lives! Go for it Silas, you are fortunate to have a cool dad, that will advise you along the way!

Can’t believe we haven’t had any interest at all in pinky yet. I know four doors don’t bring near as much, but we also hate to give the car away. Price keeps dropping since Silas is ready to sell. Anyway, we put it on the lift Saturday to fix an oil leak, put the mufflers back on, and adjust the brakes.

Winter slows sales down, people are preparing taxes, etc.

I took my pickup and the bug down off the web, I’ll put them back up after Spring Break probably.

Man, I kinda like a four door actually. I never have owned an old four door, but that's what grandpa drove, and honestly grandpa and dad are why I like old stuff.

He’s got to be patient. I agree with others, it’s tax season and ****ing cold. Tell him to pull the add, wait till spring and start fresh. Also start the price under 10k. I’ve been watching the web, the two 59 wagons online are having a hard time selling also. And they are 20k under.

also helps if you add I don’t mind working with your bank

Well, the plot thickens. Pinky is still for sale, but Silas also has opportunity to buy a 67 C10 SWB that was my truck 30 years ago. He has become pretty sentimental when it comes to this stuff and has decided he really wants that pickup since it was mine. So, trying to get that figured out. I can't blame him for wanting this old C10. It was definitely one of the funnest old vehicles I have had with a 327 and Saginaw 4-speed although those are now gone. Even though we can't post pics of it here, it was pretty cool as well with a pretty low static drop stance, red primer, and flames. More to come...

I still have the Saginaw 4-speed from my first truck. The truck is long gone though.

I completely understand the sentiment. I hope he is able to grab it!

Well...seems Silas really wants my old pickup so dropped his price again to what I consider pretty reasonable at this point for a good running 50’s car with a rebuilt 312 y-block. See ad in cl***ifieds...

Thanks. Hoping someone needs both cars soon. I suspect we will both regret selling them on some level, but then again, that's sort of how this hobby works when you can't afford to put them all in a warehouse and like too many different cars.
