binder-image5-G_Feop8g8x.jpg IMG_0391.jpg Hello, just checking over my new Ford project trying to build up a little history on it, can anyone decipher the windshield sticker for me please ? On the paper backing is a date looks like 8/27/could be 74,84 or 94 (faded). Any help appreciated,Cheers

I used to be a Texas safety inspector. That sticker would have expired 8/?5.... I don't remember what year used yellow stickers. I would guess 95 if the writing on the back is legible at all. They usually faded out before they expired because of the sun.

agree. I think its 95 also, they went to the "3 part" type sticker somewhere in the late 80's I think, might be wrong on that. Used to have to have a "classic" inspected every year and now its not required.

  6. I moved from Texas to the northern salt belt for a while (too long) and then back to Texas in '91.
I don't recollect exactly what the stickers looked like....... but I do recollect for sure that they weren't that.
I have to go with '74 or '84 if that's my only other choices.

Well I know for sure this is a real 86 TX sticker..If that helps any. To me yours looks to be 80s era, but Ive heard the actual sticker style/shape back then can change from County to another. If they had the old stickers left thats what you got. At least thats what Ive been told. 20230114_184553.jpg

As they said, the annual safety inspection sticker, Dealerships, full service gas stations and independent garages usually had a person who was qualified to do the inspections that covered a list of items but really weren't that thorough. Make sure all the lights work, look at the tires, push the brake pedal, check the adjustment on the headlights, check the wiper blades and a few other items and hope that you could sell the customer a headlight adjustment or set of wiper blades or ?? because you sure didn't make much off just doing the inspection. The good part in those days (69/78 for me) was that you didn't meet rigs with cockeyed headlights shining all over the place in Texas very often.
As far as "historical value" the only value it has now is the "oh yes, it came out of Texas" if that is important. Up to you if you figure that is worth any Bubba points at UK car events.

Looks like a 1986 MVI to me. Here’s the 1986 MVI on my car.

This is the paper backing, you can nearly make the inspection shop number out.
