Pretty cool! Are you sure with the scoops on the hood? In the pictures they look a little bit too boxy or rectangular compared to the perfect flow of all the other mods.
I’m going to drive it around until next winter then decide how I feel about them before I get it painted. I wanted to have it look a little aggressive on the hood, but now that the body is done and everything flows so well it’s something I may rethink later
Some pics Chopolds sent me.. my lancer wheel covers got the Customs by Flash treatment and were paint in the center to match, Mark also made up a lower dash panel to house my ac vents so it wouldn’t look like a bunch of hanging crap under the dash. Been having a bunch of issues with the speedo cluster and honestly I much rather have gauges that I can see exactly what the engine is doing so he took out the interior light switch(which works with new headlights switch now anyway) the ashtray and lighter and replaced them with my new Stewart Warner gauges.
Nice looking car with great patina. I had a built 283 (bored to 301) back in the 60's, it was very fast!!
The FIRST '49 Coupe....This picture was taken in 1960.. my brother and I and some friends built..he was 18 and I was 15. '58 Pontiac Tri-Power (carbs) .. same '55 Dodge Lancer side trim. Still looking for another set for my current '49 Coupe..
I realize it may be too late, but since you are air conditioning it, you don't need those tilt out back windows, and if you can find some from a Business Coupe, which are fixed and won't leak or make noise on the highway.. I traded mine to a guy from California, who lied about "good shape" ..both glasses were delaminated and one was broken, but that didn't make any difference to me since I went with all new glass all around....by the way are you going with electric windows? Bear Claw door latches?
I went with all new glass for the windshield and side and quarter windows. Eventually I may put electric windows in it.. crossed my mind and it’s something I can do down the road. As far as the latches, Chopolds had a caprice out front of his shop that we cut the latches out of and put them in my car. Worked out pretty good!
By the way did you review my gallery regarding the doors? It would sure be a lot easier to do your electric windows while you still have everything all apart..
I like em too.. the whole reason I got the AC is my wife was classified as in stage 3 heart failure. So being in a hot environment doesn’t do her any good. So when she is with me I can pop on the ac and keep her cool, otherwise for me it’s windows down arm out window and listening to my pipes!
All four are Diamond Back Classic III 15" radials...255/75(?) Rears and 225/75 on front... I am sure about the rears but I'm guessing at the fronts.. Actually they are BF Goodrich that diamondback grinds the lettering off of the outside surface but leaves it on the inside surface.. And the saga of new tires https://49fordcoupe.smugmug.com/New-Rear-Tires/
Here's the gallery for "The Doors".. https://49fordcoupe.smugmug.com/The-Doors/ And maybe I'm just a big sissy, but I think I would be a little concerned about cutting those big ass holes through both sides of the frame on both rails.. since your exhaust is coming out in front of your rear tires you shouldn't have problems with it scraping the ground unless you go really really low with your ride... And how about electric cutouts? https://49fordcoupe.smugmug.com/Fixing-Exhaust-Cutouts/
Thanks for the links! When Mark (Chopolds here on the Hamb) did my exhaust he cut the holes in my frame(it’s boxed) then welded in a pipe that the exhaust goes through. It’s all really solid and not going anywhere.
Well finally got around to washing the blue off my whitewalls. Decided to take. A few pictures since I only have them of it when it was in the shop. Still got a ton of work to do yet but it’s drivable for the most part!
I spent a lot of time on the dodge Facebook groups. Ended up getting lucky and got 2.5 sets. We put the better one on the car and the other one is going on Dick “Peep” Jackson’s car owned by Octavio Chavez now.
Holding on to the pieces I have for the interior.. if I go a different direction I’ll give you a shout!
