So this radiator came with the 51 ford, i was told it is original to the vehicle BUT i never checked until i had to rebuilt. i went to install it and it sits to call plus about 1 1/2-2" off to mounting to the core support. any ideas what this goes to?

Radiator core 21 1/2 inchs tall
radiator core 19 1/2 inchs length
mounting flange to mounting flange 23 1/4
    radiator hose inlet/outlet 1 1/2
    total lenth 29"

  2. Appears to be a 52-53 6 cylinder radiator.

That radiator was never for a flathead, so Bangingoldtin may be correct.

  4. That fill neck is nothing Ford. In fact, I have never seen one like it.

On the front of the upper radiator tank is some information stamped in the brass, maybe that will tell you what that radiator fits.

Are you putting a Flathead into your '51 Ford, or something else? That radiator won't work with a Flathead. It needs two input ports and two output ports. Maybe the previous owner was planning on a SBF or something else.

  7. Replacement radiators list 49-53 as using the same one. 6 cylinder cars had the brackets positioned for the core to be in front of the support, V8 cars behind, hence my previous post. A couple of differences in your pics though- the brackets were wider on one side than the other (yours appear the same), and the nipples were 1.5"/1.75". The extended fill neck, as @Pist-n-Broke said, is not stock. Could have been something added so the cap would be above the bolt on air dam that goes above the support. What are the numbers on the top tank?

Doesn't look anything like the four 1951 radiators I have.
