  2. I always figured that Ford's engineers were smart enough to recognize the superiority of the Chrysler hemi, the efficiency of Jaguar's overhead camshafts and were sold the idea for the SOHC 427 by a guy who sold timing chain by the inch.

I’m a Ford in a Ford person myself . My 32 had 360 Hp 350 LT1 in it when I built it . I was very sick with stage 4 cancer and just wanted to take a ride , before I died . I built it with what I had resting in my basement .

I started beating the death sentence , out came the Chebbie in with the Ford .

It really doesn’t matter much to me as long as we are having fun doing it .

I really don’t worry about going fast : I ride Harleys also !

Old Henry would have never liked anyone that modified one of his creations. They were perfect as they left his factory, in his opinion.
He didn't want to produce anything other then the original model T. His competitors, which were all friends, finally convinced him to build the Model A. It took Walter P Chrysler to personally give him a ride in his new at the time Chrysler to convince Henry his "new" model A was already behind times, and he needed to build the 32.
Henry's son had to hide his modified car or Henry would have scrapped it. Henry did like the stripped down Ford race cars, only because when they won, he sold more cars.

Henry didn't like anything modified on HIS cars, and everything that rolled out of his****embly plant was his.

I'd say he couldn't give a***** what happened to them once they left the showroom floor. It was about making money.

Henry may not have built his V-8's to be replaced by SB Chev but Chev designed them to fit in there before the Chev. JW

I believe Henry Ford's birth was an accident just like everyone reading this thread. Imagine what it would be like if Henry's father had been named Chevrolet. 99% of us would have nothing to make fun of or complain about. The other 1% would be driving a Dodge. ;)

If you didnt want Chevy engines in them , you would have put the oil-pan sump in the rear of the engine

@Baumi: Great post. I read this and some of Zora Arkus-Duntov's other writings on the subject some years back.
Zora's presence eclipsed any of our armchair philosophers by some stead. "Ford-in-a-Ford" narrows the parameters of physics.
"O.K., it's a hot rod. Build it your way...Only, NO Chevrolet engines!"
    Sure thing, Teach'.

If old Henry would of came up with the SBC first, he would of used them.
