    Hello,

If it is blasphemy, no, not the 55 supercharged Chevy sedan on TV, but a change in a historic hot rod build… It is ok to see thing a little differently. We were all told by our parents plus teachers to be an individual with different tastes and not be a follower of trends. So, we always admired the Bob Mc Coy Ford Sedan with those outstanding tri color flowing flames on the black sedan. At the time, it was a one of a kind hot rod, and a good one at that. The different colors just made it flow a lot better.

But, as we got older and into our teenage days, a flamed car was not the most appealing thing. Again, not another blasphemy situation. We were more into simplicity and pure power without drawing attention to our builds and cruisers. Our teenage friends and I all had the same looking over the shoulder mentality for violations in our hot rods and powerful cruisers. No one wanted to draw the attention of the local police or the CHP on any long or short road trip. Yellow flames on a black car would do it every time.

As much as I liked flames and scallops, I even learned to draw them in our experiments on our school notebooks and papers. But to own one was another story. As a teen, I could not see my 58 black Impala with the tri color flames flowing across the hood and fenders. (Not even less conspicuous scallops, either) It is hard to this day to draw a 58 Impala at all let alone with flames or scallops.

    Jnaki

So, I decided to draw and modify the tri color flames of the original Bob Mc Coy sedan into some mild scallops. Both versions appealed to me when finished, so I tried to draw the same flame and scallop designs onto a 58 Impala… to no avail... It must be all of those hours spent driving and racing the Impala at Lion’s Dragstrip and all over So Cal, that is the roadblock. YRMV

I also make rearview mirror rosaries to match your car. All real stone and metals. This one is from a 1964 Galaxie.
I used Garnet, Quartz, Onyx and Obsidian. All handmade and one of a kind.

As a member of our local F-100 club in '96 I was tasked to come up with a T-shirt design. I did this on the last day it could be silk screened onto T-shirts....took about 10 minutes. They never asked me to do another shirt design. artshirt96.jpg

We'll have to compare notes some time. About ten years earlier, I did artwork for Gibbon's, featuring their molded chop top '56 F-100 cab. I drew a farmer by his old reliable '56 'stock' truck gassing up next to a candy red 'custom. Very similar vibes, Ha Ha. I've scanned the shirt. It has faded and yellowed over time so the quality is pretty bad... Circa 1987(ish)
