Hello. This message board has been a great help for me when it comes to finding parts and information for my ‘32 Ford 5 window. I was hoping someone might have information on this heater I just picked up. This is the only one I have ever seen. I thought it would be perfect for my traditional hot rod. 4E5A4794-3DE3-426F-8EA6-F507AF6E4AA4.jpeg 81F2DC10-8BF9-45AC-AE35-BC3254B7F650.png 3B6D824C-7B70-4A7B-A4DF-EB4490029523.png

  2. I want to say that logo wasn't debuted by Ford until 1936 or thereabouts, someone can probably pin down the exact year, but it is definitely later than 1932.

Love that heater, never seen one like it.

  6. It looks like a heater that I sold at the Ty-rods swap meet in Stafford Springs, Connecticut several years ago.

I can't help identify it but it's a cool looking heater.

I bought it off of eBay last week and it came from New Hampshire.

I’m aware it’s later than ‘32. I know it’s from a mid to late 30s Ford. It is going in my ‘32 though.

No, from way back. Being unusual, I saved the pic with a "possible Lincoln?" tag that I'm sure I got from the post. It was in one of the "heater" threads on here.....but I couldn't tell you which one.

it does have that Ford kind of style to it of you look at late 30's to early post war Ford heaters. Lincoln of some sort would be a good guess. I don't know who made heaters for Ford.

it is unusual in that it has no doors. I don't think I've ever seen a heater just open like that. I "restored" several old heaters in the 90's to resell. just by the way it is built it is probably from 38 - 48

That thing is too kool for school! Yeah, late 30s logo but who cares, I'd put it in an A V8 and never look back. Son of beeotch. Kool...

  17. I'm not an expert but I'd guess that there was a time when heaters were not considered a basic part of the vehicle and were an accessory that could be added on by a dealer. This was all part of 'marketing' to be able to advertise a low base price. A lot of times 'accessories' may not have been actual Ford ( for example) factory parts but parts made with Ford's approval through an arrangement with an independent factory and then supplied to Ford dealerships with Ford logos and trim. If an accessory was popular with buyers it probably didn't take long for it to become 'expected' and one more baby step to 'standard equipment'.
Someone with better history knowledge than me will have to tell us where and when that piece falls in the story. I would guess pre-war because that's when there was a lot of excitement about the V8.

  18. IIRC heaters became standard equipment in the 1950's because of government decree.
