I was wondering if any one knows anything about the chopped and ultra low(bumper sits on the ground) mercury I think it is a 1950 not sure. It is black with green flames and says mercury on the hood. I have seen it at the last viva las vegas and it has been popping up in magazines lately. Would like to know more and maybe see some more photos. Thanks
You mean this one? I saw it there too. One of the nicest Merc customs that I have seen. Ask "badbob" on the HAMB here who owns it. He is a merc owner and he may know who owns it. KNUX!
Pretty sure that someone on here will know who owns it. Give it some time for others to see your thread. KNUX
Well,Dennis isn't the owner. I met the guy at Paso. Talked to him for awhile about the car and it's trick shaving of the rockers. But I don't know him personally. Seems like a cool guy.
So it has the rockers shaved off, I was wondering what was different. So does anyone know the elusive owner? Any photos of the rockers to see how much was taken off. It is one of the nicest customs I have seen. Thanks for all the info.
That Merc is cool but too low.It needs some air between the front bumper and concrete, looks like someone placed a body shell over some wheels,no STANCE at all.
I agree, looks like someone needs to call a tow truck. Bags are killing the stance (or lack of stance, whichever the case may be) of alot of cars. People can hit the switches and they look like all the rest of the cars sitting on the ground.
Thanks for the pics of the rockers, I see the rockers have been taken down. I have seen the car in person and it has a great look in my opinion. I like the stock grill and it looks pretty cool layed out low. I also never saw it drive so I don,t know the driving height. So no one knows if its a hamber or what shop it came out of? Thanks
That pic that I took was seconds after he backed into that parking spot. He backed in, put it in park, then we heard the air 'hiss' out and then heard and felt the car hit bottom. All I could do was stand there and smile. This is an over the edge car. The ride height when he pulled in was only a couple inches at the max. Contrary to a previous post, this car does have a stance, but mostly when it's rolling. But more importantly, it's got at***ude and presence. Those will get you farther with a crowd then stance any day. Especially in Paso where I saw it. Vance
Bad thing is there's too much air under the rockers when suspension is raised.Of course this is all a matter of taste.Whitewalls are also too small for my liking but I understand the builders primary goal was to get the Merc as low as possible, hence the small tires.Bagged cars don't have stance when raised and stance is what makes a car and I don't want to build a car to please crowds...but again, everything's a matter of taste.
Here's a pic of it at this years Viva on Friday night. The flames gave of an eerie glow from the surrounding neon lights, I just loved it layed out on the ground.
wow i like it ...but i see where everyone is saying the air under the rockers...he couldhave slamed it to the ground with out shaving the rockers ..but towich is own...i know my 59 belair is going to be bagged but im leaving the rockerpanels just because if you run stock 14'' rims and whitewalls if you compress the baggs itll hit ground...i already had a guy check it out..so hey if thats his thing so be it..it still looks good...
I will look for the magazine again and post the picture with the tekst here. I used google yesterday and I think maybe the mixed up a few things and that the onley thing is that he used rothflakes. I will post a pic later
