Subscribed, I'm excited to see another Chevy being built. I didn't realize how little interest the Chevy's generated when I traded for mine this summer. Looking forward to your progress!

This one is slow moving. You won't have trouble keeping up. But welcome anyway I need all the encouragement I can get.
    What did you buy?

I drug this 1930 home late July. I traded a bike for it. Runs and drives but just found out my front crank bearing cap is cracked and it pukes oil. Trying to track down a cap, if I can't find one I'm thinking a 235 with dual carbs a lakes pipe, and fenderless is the route I'll go. Can't find anything really in speed equipment for the stock 194.

That is NICE! Almost too nice. It will make a fun driver whichever way you go.
I have an old rusty '29 that was in a fire and has been sitting outside for a long time. I think those have poured bearings, so I don't think you can just swap the cap. Could yours be repaired. I'd sure like to see someone build one of those. That is the "Cast-iron Wonder" that started the legendary Chevy six era. Like the 216 it is a much under rated engine. I bet later intakes and headers could be adapted. I know they can be built! I'm sure someone would regrind a cam. It boils dow to how much of a Chevy guy you want to be. I know where there is a 261 less that 5 miles from here. I don't know how good it is.
Someday :)rolleyes:) I'd like to build one of the old Chevy fours. I'm collecting parts.

Mine is an early stovebolt 194. Not the later Turbo-thrift 194. I don't think much if anything interchanges between the 30s and 60s 194s.

Well if you start with the '37 216 the timing gears interchange, but not with the first 194.

Hey, what's going on here Six Ball, you're as lazy as me...

I thought you'd have that '26 on the road by now! OTOH, I thought I'd have my '46 converted by now. It is on the road though...hehehe

Not much happening in the roadster. The shop cleanup stalled. I have a million excuses but I've used them all before. I do have a few new pieces. Trying to keep the two miles if road open. It hasn't been above freezing for over a week. We may get there Friday. The 1 1/2' of snow is melting very slowly. For the road that is a good thing. I should be able to get back to the shop cleanup soon. The friend who was going to help with the roadster quit his job at the V&T Rail Road so I'm trying to get him to help up here. He is doing some gun work, old stuff, and I have tools he will need. I'll ****er him in.

In 40+ years of buying and selling speed equipment, the only pieces I've ever seen for the '29-'36 engines are a Mallory dual point distributor and an aluminim Winfield intake manifold.

LOL...me too...I'm sure I have as many as you do!

We have a huge problem in CA with car registrations also, IMO. They steal the money, over tax us on car reg, try to get anything that isn't EV off the street, this is a mess that seems to be creeping into other states. Why they look to CA for guidance is beyond me. I pay about $220/year for my '46 to have it registered commercial. (CA requires all trucks have a commercial license in order to haul anything)

Think about Bruce looking down from up above? He'll be proud when your driving it, and probably smiling when you work on it.;)

I had to have my '40 Chevy pickup weighed in order not to have commercial plates in the 60s in California. Then I could haul groceries & camping gear. I always threw in a sleeping bag when I hauled my motorcycle.
Not going to get into the 2A thing here they'll delete the thread. There is already too little about the '26 Roadster.

I'll try and get some pictures of the new parts.

He has an early 194, 1929 to 37, the first stove bolt. Not one of the 60s 194 which was part of the second generation Chevy sixes.

I spent about 1/2 day out there yesterday and found that I lost two pieces of a shotgun I was "fixing" for a friend. They are there somewhere. Anyway I reclaimed some of the work bench again.

My best remaining hot rod friend showed up yesterday. The one committed to helping with the roadster. We spent the day t******* trees and pulling weeds. We found the shop!

There is a huge pile of limbs to be chipped & shredded as well as acres of weeds from this wet winter & spring, but yeah, closer. Still moving on little things. Hope for a real update soon. This thread is 7 years old and not a hell of a lot of progress.

we all get sidetracked with so many things sometimes, and before we know it's time has gone by so fast. It's like what the Heck happened.

So true Larry! I have to catch up with yard cleanup. Fire season is coming fast. I have to be more ruthless in my shop cleaning and get the frame back on the table. Leroy is chomping at the bit and he is good at this stuff.

By the way on Wednesday I caught the third gopher snake of the season and moved it to the barn, a 5 footer! Within an hour I killed the first two rattlesnakes of the season. The first one while returning from releasing the gopher snake and the second at the bottom of the back steps. My dog found all 3 and told me about them.
