    I building a traditional late 40’s 32 coupe.
I has bougt a curved front ( A-Ford brake bar ) but I has not got it yet ( bought in USA ) so what is the diameter on thoose and a std 32 front bar ?
Should one use bolt/nut or thread the plate ?
I ask since holes on frame distance is only 1.82” so bar diameter and nuts.
At rear, what is the diameter that is common used ( I use std 32 tank )

It’s time to cut the std rear cross and install a A-Ford cross and see that rear tires match the body, so I need install the rear bar for mock-up.

Crazy thing happened to my '32 front and rear spreader bars. I bought a Deuce Factory frame with f. & r. spreaders, my Australian bud was in Long Beach, 550 miles South of me. He had a car trailer, so was to stop in Stanton (at the Deuce Ranch) and pick them up to bring them to me.
We unloaded the rails, (they were together wrapped) and Rob went on to pick up some cars to take back to O-Z. (Australia) 2 weeks later, he was back (Australia) and called me. The spreader bars were tucked in some of his stuff and went back to O-Z with him!
I didn't really need 'em, my Deuce rails went under my narrow '27 T...
So, that's why I don't have those numbers!

The front spreader is normally 1.75 in diameter and the rear spreader is normally 2 inches. Those are the diameters of the spreader bars I have worked with since I built my first deuce frame in 1972 and have used for many 100's of deuce frames since.

Yes, I figured out 1.75” and 2” rear.

    -Just saw this.
I really like the A-Ford brake bar, but its not mention on the diameter.
If the one I bought has a nice curve I will use it.
    3/8 or 1/2” bolts ?

Maybe lathe/mill a adapter that goes over bar instead of weld bar to plate ?
    ( se pic )

The Model A brake bar is slightly smaller diameter on one end. I can measure mine tomorrow.

1 7/16" for most of the bar then necks down to 1" at the very ends

I'll bought one here today ( funny how so much Ford parts I found very close to me !
If I start from zero and lenghts of ca ; 23" one end ( to left on picture ) is 34 mm ( 1.34" ) and the other end is only 33 mm ( 1.3" ) but the issue is the right side cone into a less diameter.
I could not see that problem in the movie I showed.
( maybe this brake shaft is different made/years ? )

Yes, its a very nice spreader bar !
One thing I need to solve is one end cone to a less diameter.

Here is my spreader bar, I made up end plates and tapped them for the bolts. One end diameter measures 1.33” the other is 1.397”. B1BBA1AF-2BF5-4068-A10F-E1C1052A4249.jpeg

I always knew there would be a place for this tube, only disavowed it because of the diameter difference.

    Some things don't mind...:eek::D

Part of cool ’maybe’ but asymmetical diameter is not prefered.
As I has 2 of them I might can cut it off, and use the end part so diameter will be equal.
    This spreader is so cool.

I bought one A-Ford brake shaft in US and found one in Sweden.
Ide is maybe cut it so I has one equal diameter both ends.
Don't know if I will use the bar for a licenceplate, maybe not but I got 2 out Ok.

Nice. I’m enjoying watching your build as you figure out ways to get it done.
