lucas doolin recently posted a request to help find a particular ‘40s movie serial and as always the HAMB detectives succeeded!

Now I have a request in a similar vein. A little back story first however...

Many moons ago I went to my local library to select an old time themed video to watch. I found an interesting tale of a Scottish grandson of a miner who inherited his claim. (And yes the grandson did find gold!). The movie was filmed in either Banff or Jasper National Park. The grandson was driving around in a black ‘47-48 Buick Roadmaster or Super convertible.

About ten years after that I was lucky enough to find three ‘47 Buick’s, a sedan, a Sedanette, and convertible for sale about a hundred miles south east of Edmonton, Alberta. The thing is is that the convertible was/is black... Now I went back to the library to check out that movie again but by then they had deleted all their VHS stock.

So now to this point of this post... will the HAMB detectives be able to identify this movie ***le for me? It may be a long shot as it was a Canadian film but I’ve learned a long time ago to NEVER underestimate the “Power of the HAMB”!

Thanks Dedsoto but that’s not the one even though it stars that turncoat Glenn Ford...

I remember one filmed at the Columbia Ice Fields with James Stewart but it was supposed to be in Alaska.

Thanks for the two suggestions guys. I have tried IMDB but not the variation supplied and I’ll see about Jus****ch as well. This has been bugging for many many years so that’s why I’ve enlisted the best detective agency in the world for anything car related!

    Have you found it yet?

If not, perhaps give a few more clues to go on.

Was the film Black & White or Colour?
When do you think it was filmed, 1950s, 1960s etc.?
Was it a feature length or a short film?
What genre… drama, action, do***entary etc.? (e.g. ‘Gold’ and ‘City Of Gold’ were both Do***entary Shorts from 1956 and 1957 respectively)
Was it an obscure (B-Grade) film or would it have been popular in it’s day?
When was it that you saw it, 1980s, 1990s etc.? (VHS has been gone for a while)

Anything else you can add that might help the sleuths out would probably be helpful.

    Glen.
