I’m starting on 29 Olds 2dr coupe project. The ch***is is done, ( it came that way ). Currently working on replacing all the wood for the body. After that I’m not sure what do for a motor and ******. I like the idea of an original motor, and ******, but not sure I want the h***le of finding one in good condition, then trying to keep it running. Are wear parts available for these old Oldsmobile 6 cylinder motors. Like starters, water pumps, generators, points, clutch, throw out bearing etc. The other option is a 50s chev 235 and 4 speed. Very similar motor. And parts are still available.

I want to stay with a 6 cyl so it appears mostly original, and don’t want over power it. It still has wooden wheels and mechanical brakes. Leaving the paint as is too.

Wow! Those wooden wheels look great. Haven't seen those in the American Racing catalog in a long time;):):)
Guess the GM in line 6 might be ur best bet. There should be some 216 ci hanging around that u could pick up.

The Olds engine was a flat head and the Chevy is an OHV so it won't look original. Olds made a flat 6 into the early 50s so one one of those might be an option. Have fun with this great project!
