Hi guys, looking for pre 1965 history for my Wife’s old 32 five window. We purchased the car in 2008 from a dealer in Northern California on the web. The ***le still had the last owners name (Robert Rowan) But I couldn’t ever get a contact for him. As the car has a Marin County coupe and roadster club decal on the windshield and a 1954 club meet plaque on the dash, We contacted the club who helped put me in contact with Jim Coffey who had owned the car from 1965 until 1972 and sent us some images of the car in 68 looking just as it does now. Jim thought the guy he purchased the coupe from was called Edd Mullins. We would love to know more of the cars pre 65 history. Somebody must have photographed that 1954 club meet. The at speed shot is of my wife Cheryl running the car at speed at Pendine beech race with our club the VHRA. And yes we spend the next week cleaning the car. The only changes we have maid to the car are the wheels and the pinstripe. We intend to do nothing else to the car but Love it and use it. Any help find any History would be very appreciated . 92527EEE-C44C-40A3-BC8B-101A1E6DB47E.png BE44B7E6-518E-48D2-B72C-12CD632D41F7.jpeg FCD19EDC-F41B-46A1-8589-4403C8004240.jpeg C0E4B16C-531F-4ADB-B7FC-01D7F37B5827.jpeg A85DB5AB-4FC9-470B-A801-E95130942E86.jpeg 8594C105-C0FE-42E4-9FE4-AB3D54EBB223.jpeg 1373A623-0BB7-4797-A8F3-F288D5040983.jpeg FC7C1410-7479-4FA5-914D-58CE951906E3.jpeg 49159C56-F7C0-471C-ACE0-80094E92EC19.jpeg 92527EEE-C44C-40A3-BC8B-101A1E6DB47E.png BE44B7E6-518E-48D2-B72C-12CD632D41F7.jpeg FCD19EDC-F41B-46A1-8589-4403C8004240.jpeg C0E4B16C-531F-4ADB-B7FC-01D7F37B5827.jpeg A85DB5AB-4FC9-470B-A801-E95130942E86.jpeg 8594C105-C0FE-42E4-9FE4-AB3D54EBB223.jpeg 1373A623-0BB7-4797-A8F3-F288D5040983.jpeg FC7C1410-7479-4FA5-914D-58CE951906E3.jpeg 49159C56-F7C0-471C-ACE0-80094E92EC19.jpeg 92527EEE-C44C-40A3-BC8B-101A1E6DB47E.png BE44B7E6-518E-48D2-B72C-12CD632D41F7.jpeg FCD19EDC-F41B-46A1-8589-4403C8004240.jpeg C0E4B16C-531F-4ADB-B7FC-01D7F37B5827.jpeg A85DB5AB-4FC9-470B-A801-E95130942E86.jpeg 8594C105-C0FE-42E4-9FE4-AB3D54EBB223.jpeg 1373A623-0BB7-4797-A8F3-F288D5040983.jpeg FC7C1410-7479-4FA5-914D-58CE951906E3.jpeg 49159C56-F7C0-471C-ACE0-80094E92EC19.jpeg

I know that car Bob lived up the street from me in Novato Ca. 1973-74 . His two boys were given the car they had a auto repair shop up in Santa Rosa ca. Then later sold to you. Ed Mullins M. C. R. C. member who built the car was a mail man in San Anselmo Ca. good to see it again.

Here is a newspaper article about the Marin Coupe and Roadster Club from June 6, 1953 issue of The Independent (San Rafael CA). Another article says the Club's colors were red, white and blue.

September 17, 1954 newspaper article about the MCRC upcoming 1st Annual Bash. Could not find any references after the event.

Was the car ever another color or without flames in pre 68 years?
It has some distinctive features that would stand out in photos; bobbed & louvered rear fenders, aluminum firewall, circular roll bar hoop, and a hood side cutout above the steering box (perhaps from a previous above frame steering box?).
There's some leads in the articles Bluestreak posted.

    • Article states the MCRC invited every sports car club to the event, so perhaps some research in early 50's sports cars/events (enthusiast websites, etc) may reveal some photos of the event.
    • Track down any MCRC members that may still be around.
    • It was said that most of the MCRC members had NHRA membership and frequented Lodi and Salinas, so any early photos of those strips could possibly include the car. It also stated the MCRC was working on establishing (paving a road!) Drags at Hayward airport. Not sure if that ever materialized.

Some great Marin history here. I was a member of the MCRC in the late 1990's. Not much of a club guy so it didn't take for me. None of the names ring a bell but they are a bit before my time. I will p*** this on to some other long time Marin guys I know. Maybe something will turn up. Very cool car, by the way !
